Hello,

Need some help with a problem with this FMS. It seems not all the airports are loaded in the nav database. Anyone know why this would happen or why when we updated it not all the airports were loaded?

Is there some sort of setting that is set wrong? This is an old system and finding any good information is difficult.

We’ve downloaded the manual online and are currently looking through it to find a solution to our issues.

Any help is appreciated!!

The older fms/gps are memory limited. With all tbe new RNAV approaches Jepp and Honeywell have had to reduce the DB size by only including airports with runways over a certain length. I seem to remember 4000’.

Make sure your database coverage area is the smallest area that you will use. It will give you the most airports in your coverage area. As Alan said the older units are memory limited. When you download the database from Honeywell there should be a letter on the website stating the minimum runway length that is covered in your database.

Years ago on an XES it got to where several airports we were using were not in the database. The coverage are we were subscribed to covered both South and North America but we never left north America. Changed the coverage to just North America and we got our airports back. We got rid of the XES over a year ago and no longer have that problem with the Garmin 750's, plus the data base cost dropped to less than a third of the Honeywell price.

It worse then that now Allen, I sometimes fly a CJ with the GNS XLS and my regular flight is between two airports at 4800 and neither are in it. That’s in Australia where we have almost no airports compared to the USA.
