There’s the standby bus for com 2 on the ground. Gives you display 3 (the lower MFD), and comm 2. The com 2 antenna is underneath the plane and the signal is weak if you’re far from the tower. TEB isn’t bad (I was giving an example of a cold, busy place were the batteries wouldn’t last sometimes. Listening to some guys getting full route clearances to SoCal), but other places where the tower is a ways away doesn’t work so well.

Nice write up Kyle. Username Protected wrote: TEB isn’t bad (I was giving an example of a cold, busy place were the batteries wouldn’t last sometimes. What kind of batteries do your you have? Lead Acid or Nicads? We had similar issues with NiCads and converted to lead acid, since then, we can leave standby bus on for 45min, and fully powered for at least 15min and still have “24 to start” With the environmental, make sure you have both pilot foot vents open as the temp sensor is in the lower center console up by the pilot feet. If air isn’t flowing through and across there, it can cause some unusual things to happen in the cockpit. In the cabin, I will leave the fan on low to keep the air temp mixed. Otherwise, the circulation fan will stop when the sensor says the cabin is cool enough and the cabin will develop cold and hot spots. Not a big deal to overcome if you leave the fan on low. I usually leave the temp sliders where they are and with doing the above the system does fine. There is a way you can trick the VCS to direct more air to the cockpit in the summer as well. Lastly, if you thought the FSI Dallas sim was good, go to Denver next time. They brought that new sim online last month or so. I went there a few weeks ago, improved graphics and landing modeling. It’s even better.

A good 30-40 knots faster on basically the same motor. Mike C.

Yes Mike is wrong, TBM 900/910/930 is 50 kts faster. Username Protected wrote: The TBM is an apples and oranges comparison. Mike C was on point with his negativity though.

Pretty good write up. I have 5200+ hours in pc12s. I do go to 27-28k regularly. Just use an indicated airspeed mode and just limp it up if hot and heavy. All my landing are flap 40, unless there is a compelling reason not to. I’ve never had a battery issue on a pc12, even single battery planes.

I have about 2500 hours in the PC-12. Great airplane. The only thing its missing is a 2nd engine.

That's the best option of all. Can you call tower on your phone at any airport to get clearance? I'm sure one "can" but do the controllers frown upon it?
