I’m curious if anyone has seen any number for the total US N registered fleet since the renewable registrations came into effect? I look up older types that we fly like the Stinson and find many airplanes in the (canceled) grey area.

Talking with the local avionics shop they had numbers something like 20% of the fleet is ready for ADSB out. Would that be a rough estimate of the “active” fleet? I’m in the “not ready” crowd for most airplanes I fly but mainly because the equipment options keep changing and It’s hard to commit to a plan.

I’ve been paying attention recently and I don’t see many owner or corporate owned airplanes. I see a lot of “Net Jets, Wheels UP and other charter / fractional” airplanes around and on the radio. Very few single pilot twins.

Very few Cessna twins, aztecs, 206, Cherokee 6. Active I see Cirrus, A36 Bonanzas, Pilatus and TBM but many seem like a lease type setup not owner flown.

I’ve got Sport Aviation and other magazines back to the 60’s. Pages and pages of airplanes in each issue but where did they all go?

I fly mainly in the Northeast PA AVP area around eastern seaboard. About 250 hours a year. I do end up in Idaho a couple times each year and it’s a totally different population of active airplanes out there. Just curious if others see the same thing.
