Anybody here on the forum operating a Nextant 400. How has your experience been? Does it fulfill its range promise? Can you get maintenance at any Beechjet shop, and any quirky differences? Would you recommend?

Have an Eagle II now which has been a great joy to own. Good range. Very economical on gas and maintenance. Just need something faster that can carry more people.

Thanks

Might want to get one now, next year they are suppose to get single pilot authorization and the prices will probably let go up. Aside that, I know nothing. They seem interesting and their hangar is like theee hangars down from us in Cleveland.

PM Auburn Pearman if you want to know about the Beechcraft / Textron Williams upgrade. I thought that if you buy a Nextant, you lose any factory and/or many sercice centers' support.

I am typed and current in a Beechjet/Hawker 400XP and have had Nextant differences training 3 times (actually did a recurrent in the Nextant sim once). If you want to know about the airframe I can help but I am far from an expert on the Nextant itself and know little about the Williams engines.

If you want to talk PM me and I will send you my number.

Brad

Ask someone who flies one about landings without TR's and they will tell you how much better they climb and how more fuel efficient they are. Ask them again and they will tell you the same. One pilot finally told me that he felt runways less than 6K were short fields now.

A bit of a runway hog even with TR’s no?

That would be an interesting development.

Indeed it would be cool since I'm the one that first asked them about why it wasn't single pilot back in 2012. :D

The 6K' minimum runway comment worries me. That would me it pretty useless to me.

I need to get in and out of 4K runways. All CJ’s can do this. I’m not sure what market segment the single pilot Nextant will fill, likely not owner flown.

Nextant feels quite confident they will get SP but it will be a SP exemption which entails extra training and required total time, etc., I suspect.

Supposed to be something of a runway hog with a relatively high Vref and single Tire mains but landing distance at MTOW SL is about 3000’, certainly a Little longer than a typical CJ or the P300.

Would like to speak with a few folks operating them. Am used to the Ciation which is great with hot/high and short(er) runways (w/o reverses) very different wing and as a result quite a bit faster. Want to learn more about maintenance and ownership experience etc.

Vref speeds are between 108 and 116 but usually around 112 at most landing weights. I hardly ever turned off before 4000 feet using normal (not heavy) braking and TR's. The Williams engines do not produce as much thrust at flight idle as the P&W's.

Sam, that is awesome. Thanks for posting.

I cannot believe how fast this thing is.

Are the runway numbers quoted balanced field lengths?

Why does landing distance increase with warmer temps?

I am going to go work harder now in the hopes this becomes single pilot.

Wondering the same thing on the TOFL. Suspect it is but I sent an inquiry to Nextant.
And maybe higher temps affect braking energy ?

Could be an awesome deal but CJ4’s are probably going to tank down to $5. Nice to have a plane that could do 2 legs east to west transcontinental instead of 3.
