Username Protected wrote: Arlen, what is your all in cost to run it? Exclude any upgrades or engine reserves. My 58 Baron and E55 are/were right at $350/hr for 100 hrs a year. I haven't really calculated that, but I imagine my hourly cost is similar to any IO-470 powered Baron. Let's see... [[ BTW, when I was looking for my 310, I looked at some Barons too, and noted that similarly timed and equipped Barons cost more to buy than 310's.
My plane had less than 4000 hours total time, IO-470's with 500 and 700 hours, older paint, and older-but-not-bad interior. Equipment was adequate, with 530W, S-Tec 55x, GAMI's, gear side-brace kits, and dual Insight G3's. I bought it for $55K. Barons like that were definitely more $$. ]]
As a rough hourly estimate: -- 100LL @ $5 X 23gph block use = $115/hr -- for 100 hours, I'd do 3 oil/filter changes and oil analyses = $11/hr -- engine IO-470 reserves @20 each = $40/hr -- props X 2 = $10/hr -- hangar @ 100 hrs = $41/hr -- insurance @ 100 hrs = $21/hr -- annual is $2250 baseline = $23/hr -- database for 530W = $4/hr -- ForeFlight = $2/hr -- maintenance = X? / hr So, roughly $267/hr + maintenance + upgrades. For my 3 years, I've been pretty lucky, with no big maintenance events, so I'm spending that money on upgrades.

I have a P model. It had underwing exhaust augmenters. They are remove. Exhaust mod added. Drops at an angle about a foot beneath nacelle. Never any exhaust on gear or wing. It’s the bom.

Arlen,
Why the engine reserve. Won’t it cost more than the aircraft is worth to reengine it?
Guess you could look at that with the relative low purchase price it would not be that much more to put rebuilt engines on it compared to price of comparable aircraft. Just would want to keep the aircraft to recoup some of the cost of engines. Know that can be a issue for you

Congrats Arlen, She's a beautiful ship! I was in awe when I watched you took off in Apalachicola. I told my wife "Look at his beautiful 310!" Warren

The look and lines of the 310 have always appealed to me. I owned a C340, but I think the 310 is sexier. Your 310 is gorgeous! I find myself looking at the 310s for sale from time to time. I may just take the plunge.

It's got the RAM 325 horse engines and is a real performer with a 225 knot cruise speed and an 18,000 foot single-engine service ceiling. But like any other plane that goes fast because of it's power, one look at the fuel flow gauges will tell you the cost; 34 GPH. 225kts? That’s impressive to put it mildly. That’s modded Aerostar speeds no?
