In another post I addressed the fact that Textron's performance data on the King Air 250 is a least misleading and maybe just downright false. I wanted to address this in it's own thread because it is a real problem and an aviation wide problem.

Aircraft sellers lie.

They always have. I'm not sure who started it, you can probably go back to the days of Piper and Cessna competing on little piston airplanes and fudging the numbers... now the data provided by ALL manufacturers is almost guaranteed to be inaccurate.

The sad fact is much of this inaccurate information gets repeated by "experts" and makes it's way on to the internet... just check Wikipedia. A Premier IA has a 1700nm range. -from Wikipedia You'd be a smoking whole at the end of that flight... but not much smoke as you'd have no fuel on board.

Thankfully, prospective aircraft purchasers are finding their way to Beechtalk and while you may have to wade through a few arguments and some misinformation, this is a forum where very knowledgeable individuals has out the details and a picture of reality usually emerges.

When it comes to buying a new aircraft most people think they do not need an acquisition agent, the opposite is actually true. If you are considering buying a new aircraft, hire someone who knows the ropes... we'll save you a lot of money and make sure you have accurate information in the process!

At least, in this advertisement (linked) for a used Premier I, range is no where to be found on the brochure. Granted, the range estimates are predominant on the pre-owned site but there isn't a Premier thumbnail showing there.

Ironically, all of the Beechcraft Jets are not listed on their Aircraft range tool. The KingAir family if turboprops is listed, as are the piston Beech and Cessna products, but the only jets are from the Citation family.

About 2 decades ago I supported sales engineers for a large aviation company. They came armed with flight information from test flights and customer flights, Boeing's WindTemp, a few dozen world records, and a lot of re-world valuable information. Never did they produce something that was fluff in the years that I supported their trailer. Honesty worked for them. ...maybe it will work for Brand T.

Realistically what are operators seeing for range on the 250? I am guessing that 1720 needs Caravan speeds more than KingAir speeds. Even 2 years ago the AOPA article was showing just a smidge over 1,100nm and nowhere near 1720!

Bob,

On the aircraft range tool I'm sure they only show current production aircraft models. (not that they still produce those legacy aircraft, but they still produce some version of them) The Beechcraft jet aircraft were the Premier and Beechjet, both have about 1000 - 1100nm range with full fuel.

Real world speeds on the King Air 250 are about 295 kts.

There is no way a 250 flies 1100nm with just the outboards full at “normal cruise”.
