Deciding between a Cheyenne or an MU-2 for some heavier lifting needs

One MU-2 airframe we are seriously considering will need a HSI and GBI on a -1 engine in next 20 hours ..

Any recommendations on shops ? Preferably somewhere between Texas , OK , and TN?

Does anyone know what to budget for a GBI?

We recently had a good experience with this shop on a Commander 690 bird ingestion insurance claim.

Mark and Neil James at Intercontinental Jet in Tulsa have always treated me fairly. As you are probably aware, MU2s are pretty much all that they work on.

That’s what I’d do too... they are both the Mitsubishi service center as well as a Honeywell service center. One stop shop, airframe plus engines.

In Tulsa, Intercontinental Jet. MU-2 service center.

In northern Arkansas, Arkansas Turbine,- a 331 specialty engine shop.

Good experiences with both.

I’d agree as well. They maintained my MU-2 for previous owner. They are very good.

Did they just change their name from something else? I do not ever recall seeing that name on the list of approved Honeywell shops.

They used to own EAM. Now they just own the engine shop and Glendale Aero.

OK, I recognize EAM. I guess the engine people have remained the same.

It is amazing how often company names get changed around in the aviation business.

I second CD Aviation. I previously worked for a large 135 operator that was very happy with them. I personally worked with them after a lightning strike inspection on a 441 I managed earlier this year and they were exceptional.

I've been through a one or two day class they custom made for our pilots (at the previous 135 operator) and it was great also.

I just had both engines go through HSI/GB. I am privy to the cost since I am on a program. My recommendation is to nail down parts and schedule before hand as best as you can. These events can drag out to no end.

Something to check: torque sensor revision number. My understanding is that certain older ones, which could be in a -1 engine, have to be replaced upon gear box opening if found. Check with the shop on this, I don't have details.

Torque Sensor 3101726-1 No good anymore is my understanding and would need replaced.

Torque Sensor 3101726-2 Not sure on this, but it wasn't supposed to be any better functionally.

Torque Sensor 3101726-3 The currently favored part they will have to install.
I think they are about $15k to $25k depending on pedigree the last time I checked.
