Heard a rumor today that Nextant has been doing certification work on making their modified beechjets single pilot.

Anyone else know anything about this?

While i couldn’t afford, what a cool jet that would be.

Spoke to them at OSH. Expect early 2019 from what I was told.

As we all know delivery dates are usually highly optimistic in this business. Just not sure what demand they see for this product that would justify the cost and effort to get the FAA to approve it. Daunting task for sure. Think how long it takes just to get an RVSM. What would the FAA's motivation be? What it would do is set a precedent for how to do this type of thing with a legacy aircraft. What other aircraft would follow suit? Citation Excel? Seems like the feds "owe" Cessna on that one.

Hope they succeed.

In addition to getting the single pilot approved, they would have to recertify the entire aircraft top to bottom under Part-23 (it's currently part 25 afaik)

This might be possible for them as it's under it's own type certificate already. Will be interesting to see.

Exactly. And a stout airframe to boot.

You mean STC right? Nextant doesn't have their own TC do they?

Hmmm, if successful, are there enough Falcon 10 airframes out there for them next???

Saw this one pop up on TAP today. Looks like a lot of plane for the money.

If only it had significantly better runway performance...

What are the real world runway requirements for the 400 NXT ? I read somewhere it’s ~3700’ Landing and 3100’ takeofff in standard sea level conditions. I assume the swept wing makes it a slippery bird requiring higher speeds.

This would be a heck of a plane if it was SP. How hard are these to fly?

Swept wing planes can bite much harder than a straight wing. Dutch roll in the 727 was pretty serious if you lost the Yaw Damper. Swept wing planes don't usually have tame stall characteristics and typically have high wing loading (so high stall speeds when clean).
