One engine tend to want to fail on rollout when OATs are hot, the other does not. CHTs are all <300 before the approach. Is both idle rpms are at 650 works fine at most temps less than 85ish F oat. Is it the nature of the best or a setting? Fuel pump on or off immaterial. I have a possible explanation ( PA30 specific) but would like to rule out everything else first.

vapor lock. See that exact issue somewhat regularly on apaches running autofuel. I'd start with your under cowl fuel lines - all should be insulated. Aftermarket fuel flow transducers are a suspect area to focus on.
