Anyone know of any light jets with comfortable crew seats? At 6'2", the M2 was pretty darn tight for me and my 6'7" buddy couldn't even get into the cockpit.

Larry,

Supposedly if they put in the regular cabinet behind the pilot seat instead of the one with coffee pot it's supposed to be better. But I agree there isn't much room. The Premier is nice and wide but you can't recline the seat and the rudder pedals are pretty close. However, you can stretch your legs as there is room between the rudder pedals. The Mustang is pretty comfortable and I think the P100 is better than the M2 and Embraer has a kit to allow the seat to move back even further. Surprisingly the Eclipse is quite comfortable and you can recline the seat all you want and move it back a long way.

I haven't sat in a CJ2 or 3 yet but John is pretty tall and has reported it to be pretty comfortable.

In general all these things are made for people who turn right at the door and not left.

There is an option from the factory to remove the cabinets from the M2 behind the pilot that gives an extra 6” I think.

I’m 6’2” and 170lbs and am comfortable in a CJ1/CJ2 although the yoga move to get in can be fun, once in I don’t have an issue.

I haven’t been in a 510 but people have told me they are much better to get into then the CJ range.

The Eclipse is comfortable for big folks for two reasons.

First the seat rails run the length of the cabin so you can push the seat back as far as you want.

Second is the side sticks so you don’t pull the yoke into your gut.

I sat in a Honda at Nbaa and couldn’t believe how tight it was

I'd look at a Premier 1. Much bigger cabin and cockpit than any of the Citation-family.

Yeah, the Textron rep said the M2 document rack and coffee bar can be removed to provide a little more seat extension in the crew seats, but said it was only 2" more rearward travel.

We have the cut outs on two M2's and it does help. It does compromise the storage space up front.

CJ3's and 4's have a larger cockpit (3") and we have a 6'6 pilot that flies them without issue.

You guys may laugh at me, but an Eclipse has TONS of leg room.

Unlike a Phenom, there is no bulkhead wall behind your seat. The seat tracks allow you to slide back in cruise, and slide alllllllll the way back when you get out.

Mustang is very easy in / out - very comfortable at just over 6 feet

I wonder what prevents developing an STC or mod to allow a Citation to do that?

The bulkhead is not structural, just a wall to keep pilots and passengers separated.

It looks like the seat track may, in fact, be there if the "kitchen" cabinets are removed:

I'm not a big fan of the cabinetry, but even if you wanted it, you could have a smaller version made and allow the pilot seat to come further back.

I moved the crew seats back about 12" in the TBM. So much easier to get in & out from the pilot door.

Cross the Phenom 300 off the list!
