I went to get in a PC12 earlier and the torque meter was maxed out and flashing before start up. Like there was a guage error or something. We started the airplane up and the problem still persisted? Ended up cancelling the trip due to the problem. Just curious if any PC12 guys have had this problem before. I was not the last person to fly the airplane so I’m not sure if it could be something the last person did. I’m new to the airplane so it could be something simple, not sure. The airplane in question is a pc12/45 if that makes a difference.

Did you try disconnecting the battery, waiting a minute then turning the battery back on? I have had a few bizarre indications and that has solved the problem.

No we have not. I will try that. It may also be worth noting the green “store” annunciator light was illuminated in the engine instruments control panel. I’m wondering if that is my problem. I just dont know how to reset it.

Exactly what is it flashing? Does the torque gauge have a tattle tale?

Hi Casey,
On our PT6 -66D we have had to replace the torque transducer once. It began intermittently giving erroneus readings. Then failed completely.

The torque gauge is flashing I believe 777. I can’t remember now and the torque gauge is completely maxed out. As far as I know, you can’t over torque because there is a torque limiter that keeps you from doing so.

I’m really thinking the “store” button may have been pushed or something because the green “store” annunciator is illuminated. I tried pressing the store button to see if it would clear but the green “store” annunciator stays illuminated.

Here is a picture of a standard engine instrument panel. This is not my picture. I just pulled it from the internet. See the switch down at the bottom that says “store” that annunciator to the left is illuminated and says “store”.

Ha... I'm racking my brain trying to figure out where the STORE button is. You're in a Legacy PC12.

The automatic trend monitoring automatically works during any exceedance that's goes on for a longer period of time. Probably a result, not a reason.
I'm guessing a faulty torque sensor, or a faulty EIS.

It ended up being a faulty connector on the torque transducer. Problem solved! Thanks everyone for the help.

Its the same as the EVENT button on the keypad. Press it and it'll take a few second long snapshots of what the airplane is doing.

The Store button is only on Series 10 Legacies (both /45 and /47). Series 9's have manual trend monitoring. The "event" button in NG is the same as Store in Series 10.

As I mentioned above, the automatic trend monitoring automatically kicks in during any exceedence and it illuminates the STORE light, the CAS in NG will display a white "Engine Exceedence" message, in Legacies, you only have the logged data in the SD card from the CAWS panel, there are no specific CAWS lights for exceeding anything (apart from the flashing red/amber lights and the indication).

Yeah I use the Event button. My mechanic doesn't look at the info though. I take video when I'm having an issue and forward to him.
