Deltahawk's Slogan "Jet Fueled Piston Power for the New Century"

Great slogan when they wrote it in 2002.

You missed your chance to do one of the pilot favorites: Bashing the FAA as horrible and saying it should be junked. Well unless it's about preventing an airport closure or preventing ATC Privatization, in which case the FAA is wonderful and needs protection.

To be fair Deltahawk never did say which "new century"

So first I know quite a bit about this program. So most of what I know is not for public discussion. I do feel a responsibility to point out to the pontificators in the room. GA was dead in 1999, we could only look to experimental aircraft for new designs. I started to pay attention and started to work with them when my opinion faltered at apparent reality. Cirrus proved us and me wrong as I thought GA was dead. Single engine personal jets were a passing fad, again I was skeptical, but i now run into thrilled owners of SF50 aircraft on a monthly basis. I was wrong to think this segment was dead. So we now see a new Cirrus in front of us, I have learned and profited from supporting Cirrus and not following conventional wisdom. Think what you want, Cirrus’s next direction will be a new revolution I stand on this , as experience has proven me right

Watch this space.

A 2 seat airplane that looks almost exactly like their current 4 seat one.

Thank you Cirrus for such radical innovation.

maybe the innovation is price. maybe it's fuel consumption. Who knows.

Or maybe it will have the ability to run on unleaded fuel, like the ethanol free fuels that are sold for boat use around here.

Yeah, nobody has tried to innovate in those areas. Well, except for just about every company that builds a light plane, and the entire LSA industry.

The "revolution", if you want to call it that, will likely where it will be built and the target market: China.

The Chinese own Cirrus. To jump start GA in China, they need a BUNCH of 2 seat trainers. With trade wars and labor costs, don't want to build those here. So design a light 2 seat trainer, build it in China in large quantities, make it run on unleaded car gas or jet/diesel since 100LL is rare in that part of the world.

So the "revolution" will be about the impact on the Chinese domestic market, not what the airplane design is.

Look back 30 years in aviation ... who has innovated in piston GA? Cirrus.

It's possible they succeed where others have failed.

You are another victim of Cirrus marketing.

Nothing on a Cirrus was invented by Cirrus or first to appear on a Cirrus.

Not even the parachute.

The Corvalis, for example, is significantly faster than a Cirrus on the same power.

Cirrus technology is mundane, standard. What they claim as "innovations" each year are trifles.

If you disagree, write down everything that first appeared on a Cirrus. Then Google it and check. If any of your list remains, I bet it will be laughably trivial things.

What Cirrus is good at is marketing, including the message they are "innovators".

GA doesn't need "innovation". GA needs "economical". Cirrus certainly ain't that.

Per BING search of definitions: Innovation is "making changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, or products."

And yes, Cirrus meets this definition, in spades. Now, did they invent a lot of the stuff? Nope. But they continue to make changes to the established market. They continue to push boundaries of what is accepted by the market. They have done more in general aviation about understanding the customer than any other manufacturer in recent memory.

If the proposed plane, is an SR-18 and is aimed at the training market it will likely have some rather interesting twists. Could be anything from production processes allowing for lower costs, to production material selection, to lowered operating costs through such things as exchangeable power train systems.

OK - look back 30 years in piston GA and who is good at selling? Cirrus

GA needs products that sell. maybe Cirrus will succeed.

Labeling others as haters is a typical illogical reaction by believers.

Still waiting for that list of "innovations" by Cirrus.

Provide a list for Cirrus.

Cirrus SR series is an excellent execution of established ideas. Cirrus is not a creator of new ideas.
