It’s quite a bit more than that for me (and I dare say many others on this forum). Getting from point A to point B quickly and safely is a given. It’s also about having fun doing what I call “aimless flying”. I feel at home in the air and it allows me to disconnect temporarily from ground based reality. Whatever is relevant on the ground is irrelevant when I fly. It’s a way of life - for me, much more than mere transportation. I know YMMV.

Not gonna touch the twin v. single debate! To each his own in that arena.

Then you're not a Cirrus customer. Nothing wrong with that.

Cirrus is in the business of making money. Their marketing and products reflect that. They are satisfying "the demand" that exists for aviation. Something all those guys in the "GA is Dying" thread don't understand.

The Single v Twin debate ended decades ago.

With the twin winning jets, and the single winning turboprops and pistons killing everyone else...

Again..... There are many sub categories of "twin". You can't lump them all together.

The SF50 is a single. They're shipping. We'll see how many they can build a year once they get to full steam.

So the debate is open again? :D

A just discovered a CirrusJet is based at my home airport. My hangar is right closest to the threshold on Rwy 19 at EMT, so I see all the action up close. Today it was waiting for its clearance and when it finally powered up and departed, I really was surprised at how insanely loud it is. Something about how that jet stream is ducted or slightly angled makes it really noisy. It was like if an old vintage military jet with straight turbojets was taking off.

Anyone else noticed this up close?

It's nice and quiet inside. :)

Other than the disturbing realization that it is the sound of $6/minute being turned into that noise...

Seriously? 400 Pounds per Hour at takeoff thrust? I don't think so.

I thought the SF50 burned around 435 pph at cruise, which by my wet and uncalibrated finger would equate to something like 1500 pph or more on the takeoff roll.

Think more like 40¢ per second.

PC12 is at 700PPH on takeoff. Just for reference.

That's besides the point but yes... Pilatus also costs a lot more.

I was just trying to get single engine fuel flow numbers out there. I don't think that little Cirrus jet can fit 1200PPH though it but I've never flown one.

Good question. I'd like to know the answer. All I know for sure is that the takeoff flow on any aircraft engine is the highest of the flight, and several multiples of cruise flows.
