My friend needs a mechanic that can change a wheel on a Citation Mustang. Anyone know of anyone nearby that can travel and help him out?

Proparts solution was to send some guys up from Orlando in a truck charging him for travel and waiting around for NDT wheel testing.

There is a great maintenance facility based out of KBHM that I'm sure can help.

NDT testing of the wheel is a MM requirement if it rolls at all on a flat tire.

Does he want a repair that is contrary to the MM?

Will any A&P change the tire without referring to the MM?

I'm sure the fuse plug melted out wheel needs to go out for OH regardless

I think this shows you can melt a fuse plug relying on anti skid

I believe he is asking for someone to change a wheel (as in assembly) not remount a tire. Big difference!

Did he blow the tire on a high speed abort? Hard to melt a fuse plug on a Mustang.

If he is on Proparts he needs to work througn Cessna if wheel will be NDT and reinstalled or wheel fails NDT and replaced.

Local A&P who can remove and replace wheel can be less expensive then Cessna MSU costs. But local A&P will likely require MM to work on plane.

I once had a flat on my 425 in KLAS. There were A&Ps on the field but they all worked on KAs. A&P said legally he had to have MM to work on plane. I carried MM on CD in plane to give him.

Where is he getting the wheel assemby from? Spare wheels are expensive for Citations. And that's not how proparts works which was metioned.

What else would cause a tire to fail other than a fuse plug? Serious expenses here, $12k for a new wheel plus 40-80 hours of labor to turn this over to Textron and full pro parts. no labor costs are covered. Trying to avoid a $20k tire change.

There's a wheel for $5k on eBay better than $12k

Puncture from FOD on the runway? You will find out when tire is removed.

Yup, he is not the first. It can get expensive to do it right. Let him price the cost for a new wheel and tire, get it mounted, fly it in the Kligion to Talledega and bring a copy of the MM pages for a local A&P to install. Then he can take old wheel, get it NDTd, and sell it or keep it as a spare. Dont know how much PP would cover all that.

If he can find local A&P who can work on Mustang and work through PP on wheel it will be least cost but take some time AOG

Cessna MSU and Proparts is least hassle way.

Probably from someone who had flat tire and did what i described above.

Does it have recent NDT papers?

I've given my advice to my friend, rescued him in my 40 year old Klingon, and I cherish the fact I have a spare wheel available for $1,500. Another pearl is don't land at no service airports to save on gas!
