Pilatus has people that see something that other aviation companies are blinded too. Amazing that such a "small" company can produce two GA models and have them both blow everything else into irrelevance.
Its a shame to see how impotent the large traditional GA builders are when it comes to foresight and innovation. Go Pilatus, you deserve it!

Congratulations to Pilatus. Username Protected wrote: Its a shame to see how impotent the large traditional GA builders are when it comes to foresight and innovation. Go Pilatus, you deserve it! Agree, I cannot help but think it’s the pressure from shareholders from being a public company and focusing on next quarters results. That’s not desirable for a company that manufacturers aircraft. Pilatus is a private company with 1.2B in sales founded in 1939. Pretty amazing. It will be interesting to see if the pc24 will hold its values as well as the PC12 has.

It will maintain value if they continue to match the supply with the demand. As they have artfully done with the PC12.

“large traditional GA builders” threw me off. Who else is left? Cessna and Bombardier.
The PC-24 certainly is a fine machine. But it doesn’t break the mold. It’s not all that different.

It is incrementally nicer in a few features: - low stall speed wing and therefore low runway use, at a trade off of being a little slower in cruise than some peers (e.g. CJ4) - burly gear and engine mounted for unimproved runway use. Cool, but not an amazingly common need here in North America. Great for Africa, Asia and South America, I imagine. - big cargo door. It is nice, no two ways about it. Perhaps not transformational though, except perhaps a few specific types of operators (air ambulance, maybe some kind of specialized cargo use, plus a few guys who really have to take their own Harley when they go to Sturgis). I would love one for the short runway thing. BUT - my short runway is also weight restricted, which makes it all kind of moot... (of course, saying that, I’m ignoring the cost picture which made it moot for me long before this discussion ).

I’ll add one more to your list - Williams Quiet Power Mode. Can run the right engine to power the airplane for air conditioning, heating, load flight plans, and quicker startup. If you can run it like an APU and it uses the same amount of fuel, this will be another game changer for this class of airplane. The 24 has dual main tires so if your weight restriction is weight by tire, you might be good to go.

Robert Well, Pilatus pretty much owned the market with the PC-12 being relatively unique so it’s a lot easier to match supply with demand when there are no other players. We will see if the 24 is different enough to make its own market.

Planesense has also already taken delivery of their PC24's. I think it's the ultimate plane for a charter op.
