A drone carrying 2 people will throw off a TON of prop wash. Not to mention all the spinning blades at eye level when it's on the ground. "Drone type" vs. Helicopter has nothing to do with it. It's just math.

Don't have one yet surprisingly.......may get one for spotting fish when we're sailing.

Ducts add weight and can introduce interesting control problems in crosswinds.

I would love one! Sure it won't work for everyone but will work great for someone. I can think of a few ways I could use it. 1) Commute- We have 22 acres to land on here at work... no problem 2) Fly out to the deer lease for the day or weekend 3) Fly to the airport to take the bo on a X-Country and then back home again 4) Joyride 5) Parents house for dinner, they live on hundreds of acres should be able to find a place to land.

The other big advantage to the kitfox, is that it exists.

Electric motors start and stop fast. Could you cut your head off with one of these things... sure. But you would have to try hard to do it.
1) your instinct is to duck. Anytime I load up in a helicopter even though I know it won't hit me guess what... I duck. I can't make myself stand up and walk under that thing.
2) we are talking about a 2 person craft here. We yell clear prop before starting our planes... do the same before launching this thing, if you see someone don't start up.
3) when you land and shut down, the blades will stop turning in very short order. On my drone the blades stop incredibly fast... its not like these things are going to sit and spin for minutes. I bet within 5 seconds of hitting the off button they stop.
4) Because it is electric starting and stopping will be so easy and fast there is no reason to leave these blades spinning while you load up.
5) Nothing is or will ever be 100% safe. If you walk under thing thing and don't duck, or hit the start button with someone standing under a blade, or feel the need to run up to one within 5 seconds of it landing then I am sorry.
Personally I think people getting their heads chopped off will be far from the biggest issue with this thing.

The other big advantage to the kitfox, is that it exists. You are absolutely right... I can because I am a pilot. But my brother can't, my neighbor can't, and most other people can't. To me it seems that this company is looking for something anyone can fly or ride in to do those things.
