I need more info than that.

Yes, I think it's the best looking SETP "in it's class".

How much is an M600?

About the same $3million+, but the Epic is 50 knots faster and carries 200lbs more payload with full fuel.

Damn.... Yeah, I'd take the Epic also. Watch out Piper.

I didn't realize the M600 was so much money. I'm gonna backpedal on my earlier posts.

For guys who don't fly a lot, work that is mandated on calendar time rather than engine time is more significant. The TBM has a number of costs incurred on calendar time. How do they compare with other TPs?

Not to mention the fact that it looks 100 knots faster. The experimental version has been flying for over 10 years with no major issues ( one fuel issue that ended up in a river, and the multiple home brewed approaches in Florida last year that ended up in a crash).
They are simply stunning on the inside with a ton of room. I have wanted one since the first time I ever saw one sitting in Midland Texas.

..just to clarify, the Epic fatal crash over here at Spruce Creek (December 2016) was pilot screw up and LOC...stall/spin....not the fault of the plane or the instrument approach.

Yes, thanks Arlen. I wasn't very clear in my description.

Wonder why it took so long to get certified? Had they been on the market with it 10 years ago they'd be a much larger company right now. Imagine if DayJet had launched with Epics instead of Eclipse...

It's like all the wasted innovation that went into mini-jets has finally found it's way to the SETP market.

They went through a major crisis a few years ago when the company went bankrupt and the owners group took over. My understanding is they sold a major portion off to a Russian investment group which funded the certification process.

Just caught this. What fantastic news. It's so exceptionally rare for a startup a/c manufacturer to bring a new design through the certification process. It's incredibly daunting and you really can't appreciate it until you've seen the process firsthand. My sincere congratulations to the Epic team for making it this far. I really hope they make it to the finish line and build a successful business out of that bird.

As for me personally, I'd have a really difficult time wagering $3.2M on a start up manufacturer. I'd have to know a lot of details about the folks backing the program. There would be some serious due diligence on my part to participate on that bet.

Still, the #'s are compelling. I hope it works out well for them and their buyers. More options in this market only make it that much better for us buyers.

Like deice boots for a pilot, just knowing it's there is likely a comfort for her.
