The early sixty model 310s are real cheap.

Anyone have one?

Just looking for inputs good or bad.

Aware there are many variables to any particular aircraft--but these seem like a lot of bang for the buck.

Thoughts?

What questions do you have? All are about the same. They started light with low HP engines, they got heavier with bigger motors. All are about the same speed. Exhaust leaks into the wing is a weak point as well as having a mechanic that knows the landing gear system is important.

If you're bored come take a look at my '57, once you sit in it, you wont want to go back to a baron.

Buy the book, "The Marvelous 310" by Larry A. Ball - it has a wealth of information.

I have a 1967 K model...not quite an early 60s model.

John is correct. The additional room cannot be overstated all while going at same speed as a Baron, & with more loading flexibility (wing lockers).

C-310s get a bad rap because of of a misconception the gear is "weak". The gear is actually very stout...the gear links & attachment however have a lot of slop in them and over time can get out of tolerance.

Many owners neglect rigging the gear every annual or every other annual (~5hrs of work) which leads to a gear collapse after many years of neglect..there are DVDs & videos of how to properly rig it & its no biggie.

Even later model C-310s are better values than Barons & Senecas...the price differential is frequently enough for 2years or more of ownership costs.

Wing lockers first came to the 310 in 1964 (when the exhaust was moved down under...).

"The Marvelous 310" book that Sven mentioned above is an excellent chronology of the 310 and the changes that each year brought. It's available by joining The Twin Cessna Flyer forum and ordering from them.
