A friend is looking at buying a real nice 182 and it needs a real detailed prebuy. It’s coming out of Mexico and has had a lot of upgrades done recently. Who do ya’ll recommend around Boerne/ksat or Kingsville area.

A real detailed prebuy would be an annual - cheapest annual your friend will do as any AW items are on the seller and he'll start with a fresh annual.

From your description, that is what I would do - coming out of Mexico, I'd be cautious trusting what the logbooks say - there are good shops and not so good shops. AHR Aviation might be a good source. There are other shops at Boerne as well. Good luck!

I have been using now gate one at stinson airport for a while and they have been pretty good. Talk to sam in the maintenance department. Yes be very careful with a Mexican plane, I have many friends with planes based in Monterrey and Torreon as well as having sold sevaral planes south and they are very good at manipulating airframes down there. Not saying there aren't good planes just make sure everything looks in order. There was one occasion where we saw a 206 with one wet wing off newer model on one side and a bladder tank in other. In the Kingsville area I used Jeff in Sinton to November a friends 182 out of mexico a few years ago, he's a pretty good and has the shop down there 1-361-442-8767.
