I like the yoke mount for my Ipad air. It wont block the G1000 or cause any limit in the yoke travel. Its ajustable op or down when you install it. Easier to enter information, I have the FS210 installed so I use it to transfer my flight plan to the G1000. It does pickup more heat so in heavy sunlight I had the ipad overheat twice so I sometime have to remove it and put it back in for the approach. This is the mount from Icarus made by Silverman. It does have a charging jack on it. http://www.qrmounts.comUsername Protected wrote: Marc,
I notice that you have a pocket in your door which isn't there on my 2007 model. That's a nice addition.
How do you like the QR mount for iPad on the yoke? I've got one but have never used it as I seem to like setting the iPad on the floor between the seats when I'm not using. Does it make it difficult to enter information in that spot or cause any limit in yoke travel?

Marc - I'm interested to learn how or what you use the iPad for with a fixed panel mount given you have a G1000. I know its a personal preference thing, but one of the things I like about the G1000 is that it has helped me eliminate clutter in the cockpit. What features of the iPad do you find useful in flight.
If and when I use the iPad, its to review STAR's/SIDs/IAP or to verify runway data on iPreflight, but most of the time it just stays in the side pocket. In fact, I'm getting to where I use my iPhone more and more these days.

Actually I like looking at the charts better on the Ipad with Foreflight than the charts on the G1000. Easier to pan & zoom and in my field of vision and I dont have to switch the G1000 during an approach.

Marc,
I have the same mount that you do with FS 210 (which really saves time). I'll give the mount a try.
Alex, I don't have G1000 now (2x G600/750) but I prefer to review charts on iPad too. Much quicker than either G1000 or on the 750's. Typically I set up the approach textually on one 750 with the moving map on the other other. I review the SID/Star/Approach on iPad then put it back on the floor unless needed again. I also use the iPad during flight, especially during climb, to set power using an app TBMTrq. I also have an emergency procedure app called TBM850N Emergency Procedures which is much quicker than looking it up in the Simcom booklet. So having an iPad in the cockpit is actually pretty helpful.

Nice pictures of your bird Marc. Love the red striping. Thanks for sharing your pics. Wonder if BT knows you have another plane that is more useful and all purpose year round than the TBM.... your C185 on floats(summer) and skis(winter) is an awesome performance package too. All the later model TBM’s I’m familiar have TCAS. Can’t say tonight if it’s standard or not though.

Would a US-registered, privately-owned TBM require TCAS to fly in Canada?
From Transport Canada Advisory Circular No.700-004: "There are currently no CAR general aviation rules requiring Private Operators (Subpart 604 of the CARs) to equip with TCAS equipment."
The answer is no.
