If you are seriously considering a TBM it would probably be a good idea to join the TBMOPA - it's around $350 annually - like all forums lots of good info - some bs you'll have to filter through but TBM specific.

Gary, It depends how much range you need. With a C2 or 850/900 you will have around 850ibs with full fuel and your range will be 1200 nm. An A or B model will be in the 250-400 ibs useful load with full fuel. Leave an hr of fuel and you will be ok but you cut your range to 8-900 nm. The 700s burn 50-52 gph and the 850/900 will burn 60-62 gph at 30kts TAS higher speeds. Username Protected wrote: It seems the TBM 700B is the sweet spot in the lineup currently (economy).
can anyone confirm this? Recently saw one for $9xx,xxx and the B seems to have "just enough" UL for a normal size family (we are 800lbs including luggage, 850 if I bring the dog).
the C adds about 300-400k in capital. the 850 burns more fuel (I know it's faster, but only by a few minutes), and doubles the capital outlay.
thoughts?
what does an owner/operator need to be RVSM compliant/capable (assuming the plane is)?
What's the issue with the freon A/C? what's the factory A/C like?

Mark, 432 knots...496 MPH...couldn't you have pushed it for 4 more mph All I can think is: Yeebahaba I'll trade you fer me Aerostar...straight up...even stephen. Useful load is 2127 pounds....reduced just a wee bit by the need to carry a mechanic and extra parts around....plus the dental bills for putting vibration induced fillings back in. Tony, Trade offer goes fer you also, To boot I'll buy you any Mustang you want....4 wheeled variety of course Don C. You should move to Charlotte, We will split a TBM and an older SR20. I hate to admit but you were probably correct in deciding NOT to purchase a twin "tractor engine" plane. Funny thing is I can't rationalize a loan on a TBM vs no loan on A* So...I must justify a bit. How does this sound? I sell my paid for warehouse take the $ and buy an 850 then rent my warehouse back from new owner.. Sounds TOTALLY logical... Yes, I'm knutz....airplane knuts that iz
