I'm not 100% sure about this...

I've run across more than a couple "school snobs" who were excellent procedure automatons, but not really good aviators. The veneer was durable, but thin. I'm not knocking FSI/CAE, they are both excellent. But for someone with good prerequisites, I don't see a darn thing wrong with a quickie in-aircraft + a recurrent. The finished product should be the same.

2-3 weeks to train in a Citation? For a first-type and a piston transition, maybe. For an add on, or someone who came with 1000+ TP, I don't know. I suspect the TIM (Training, Insurance Mafia) got a swisher on this one.

In short, 2-3 weeks won't make a seasoned jet pilot out of a Cirrus jock, and it's almost false imprisonment for someone with 2000 turbine.

Rates should be the regulator.

Maybe, my point is, we are all kind of crap when we get any certificate or rating, and if we are very lucky, we get good at it before we kill ourselves.

Are you sure the sim time was at FSI? I didn’t think FSI allowed you to take a recurrent unless you had met all of their prior experience requirements. I think prior experience is 100 in type according to their definition.

Agree.... But most owner/pilots won't have 2000 hours of turbine time, I was referring to owner/pilots.

Rates should be the regulator? Sure, as long as the insurance companies continue to write the policies. If insurance companies are going to segment owner/operators at least require the necessary training to get the pilot to a safe level even if it means requiring them to attend FSI and 100 hours of mentor time.

The Flight Safety PC-24 Sim is has received FAA approval. (located in Dallas)

Only qualified for level C right now although FSI advertises it as a level D. Maybe qualification goes in phases.

The simulator is equipped with FlightSafety’s latest advances in technology including the VITAL 1100 visual system, electric motion and control loading, and new Instructor Operating Station.

The pilot and maintenance technician training programs will also utilize MATRIX, FlightSafety’s Integrated Training System. It offers Graphical Flight Deck Simulators for instructor-led and self-paced learning, Desk Top simulators used in classroom instruction, and the SimVu simulator flight de-briefing system. Pilatus PC-24 operators will also benefit from the new FlightBag App. It offers features that increase the effectiveness of courseware material delivery, presentation, and use. The App also serves as an excellent resource for post-course review and reference.

From the holder of the 18th slot for a pc24, their salesperson told them last week the final top speed has been upped to 450 vs original 420ish projection.

Seems like a big deal if true. That’s premier speed.
