Yep. Pretty simple. You get higher cap ex and lower hourly costs or lower cap ex and higher hourly costs.

More like 1200 - 1400nm real world no wind range with reserves.

What I published was from my most recent flight. Probably had. 30 knot tail wind. And yes, 1700 is the point it would run out of fuel.

Thumb on the scale a bit?
Take away the headwind and you are 1,100 - 1,200 nm range with reserves.
Farthest I flew the CJ2 was KDXR-KCOS into a headwind and landed with about 780lbs of fuel.

my thinking right or wrong
CJ vs I SP
leave $1 million in the market ( which is doing very good) Loose $100-150K fuel cost over next 7-10 yrs ( less than market pays me) SP has less maintenance issues from what I hear-saves money when (IF) I were to sell it -not going to loose money-( max $100,000K) CJ ? 5-10 yrs from now Carry 1600#'s of payload, 12,650#'s MGW 900 NM range with 1000#'s reserve ( my reserve 1000#'s)
Both excellent choices, just different money strategies
FREEDOM to go as we Please where and when and yes weather is less of a restraint when going to Bahamas
One thing we all agree on is Citation Jet move up is a very good move in todays prices and the comfort, safety, enjoyment to fly, speed, and all the other plus's,

Its done. I am a 501 owner, SP type rated (aka "jet elite" ) and flying it around.. what an amazing machine. Most of the inspiration was provided by this very thread by Michael Tarver. I am also thankful to the many folks who freely share valuable experiences and information in numerous other BrandX threads.

Cessna built a jet for a man to fly.....MT gets it and it’s a good thing that he is here to spread the message.

Mike, Gary, Bob, Sameer, Gerry, and Chris have all joined the Klingon 501SP Club. Anyone else secretly have one? Mike, Gerry and Chris are all former Eclipse owners. Bob moved up from an RV-10 and I think Sameer had a twin Cessna. Gary moved up from a Baron and a Cheyenne which he is keeping. The water is nice; who's next?

Congratulations SIR !!!
I have not heard anyone having second thoughts on the I SP here!
These planes can be had right and I think the closer we get to ADSB time the more you will see for sale Cheap with plenty of life in them for us guys and a lot will become PARTS for us instead, What more can you ask for a personal use jet!
Fuel burn, I get it, do the math, basically ALL you are paying for is fuel
I just cut back on my casino losses to offset fuel exspense, well that's what i told the wife we were doing!
