Just finished lurking all 73 pages of this awesome thread.
Out of curiosity, what are the main differences between a 500 with SP exemption and a 501? It seems most of this thread is specifically focused on the 501.

I'm still learning myself, but it appears the technical differences are subtle. In fact, Cessna issued Service Bulletin SB11-4 to take a 500 and convert it into a 501 (complete with a 501 serial number, making it legal to fly single-pilot without the SPE as I understand it). The SB is mostly about moving some gauges and controls. In general the 500's were manufactured earlier than the 501's and therefore may have less upgrades but can often have more useful load. Not sure how accurate this is, but shows when various serial numbers of the 500 and 501 were manufactured: https://aircraftbluebook.com/Navigation ... +500%2F501

501: Single pilot 500: single pilot if you have a single pilot exemption 500 w/ Sierra long wing: marketed as single pilot but not actually true, still need an exemption but the FAA and no one else cares. Foreign 501s sold as 500s abroad were eligible to get converted back to 501s when repatriated back in the day.
There's no meaningful panel or switch difference between a 500 and a 501

My 550 doesn't have TRs . If you land at the correct speed. They are not needed.

I understand that brakes are very expensive, so TR might save thousands.
