"Utility of a Turboprop and comfort of a jet"

Blows the Beechjet out of the water.

That PC24 is definitely super cool. Wish I could afford to buy and operate one!

Honestly, though, CJ4 is in the ballpark on just about everything except field length. But it makes up for it with a faster cruise speed. Pick your poison. Nice to have choices.

They haven't sold many CJ4's.

I'll bet the PC24 sells faster than they can be built.

Well.... history has shown that Pilatus is VERY GOOD at building them at "just the right pace"...

:D

I am under the impression Pilatus does a good job helping to support the prices in the PC12 market.

The obvious way is to build at an appropriate rate.

Than other way (that I think I read on here) is they have been known to buy and resell used units.

There is no doubt the 12s hold value extremely well.

(Edit, there is a NOT in my last post that is a typo. Deleting now)

You can control supply or.... You can raise the price every year.

Here is a video of some of the STOL performance testing with the 24. It looked like they had it stopped just past the 1000’ markers. Impressive!

The runway distances in the video aren't what they can publish as numbers.

For landing, it is from a 50 ft height at the runway threshold. The pilots were putting it down on the piano keys in some cases when in reality it will be put down right at the 1000 ft marker (3 degree slope from 50 ft). Basically, add 1000 ft to the ground roll to get the "real" landing distance that will be in the AFM.

For takeoff, the distance is with an engine failure at V1 and is the longer of stopping from V1 on the runway, or to reaching 35 ft height above the runway. Generally, V1 is adjusted so those are equal which minimizes the distance. In the video, I didn't see any V1 cut takeoffs, so all these were all engines operating.

We don't know what the operating weight was. Being light really gives dramatic performance. Winds can also help.

Preliminary published numbers (max weights, ISA, 0 MSL, no wind):

Takeoff (presumably to 35 ft after V1 cut): 2690 ft

Landing (from 50 ft): 2525 ft

Takeoff distance is reduced by high power to weight ratio and good brakes.

Landing distance is reduced by low engine idle thrust and good brakes.

If you routinely achieve the landing distance numbers, you will be buying tires and brakes at a fast rate.

Mike C.
