I have and would still.

I was a line guy @ KSLC in the early 90's. Lifeflight had 2 Marquis' and AirMed, their competitor had 2 Marquis(s). Lifeflight also had an old J model in Idaho Falls that would fly down twice a week and we had another B model in our South hangar as well. Seemed like SLC was MU-2 central in those days.

The LifeFlight guys flew single pilot so occasionally, if I was getting off shift I would hop a ride up front with one of the guys. Went all over the West and felt like the luckiest kid on the planet even though my $4.50 an hour job barely paid the bills.

The medical companies had excellent pilots & maintenance and eventually sold their MU-2's and bought B200's and PC-12's.

Sadly, four of these MU-2's have become smoking holes and the other 2, N479MA and N132BK don't show much recent flight history. :ohno:

I always admired how well they were built.

Fairly amazed that at this point in the survey a solid 20% of respondents wouldn’t even get in the plane that I fly my family around in.

I'd wager just about that many wouldn't get into the ABS A-36, following a few months maintenance shakedown, with Tom Turner, cause that's how they roll.

I used to ride with a friend flying checks at night in an F model most of the time but every now and then we got a Marquis for the run. He had to fly no matter what the weather. I loved every minute of flying with him and I would jump at any chance to get back in an MU-2.

James, I believe the friend I used to fly with was the pilot of the plane you now own when it was owned by a guy in OKC. He did that for a while after the check flying went away.

Good point. I wonder if that’s true.

Is that an invitation?

I was pretty excited about the MU2 a few years ago, thought it might be the next logical step. But after Pascals accident I dug into them a little more and kind of lost interest.

Would definitely go for a ride with a pilot I trusted, but wouldn’t own one.
Can’t explain why exactly. Could be a lack of trust in my own abilities.

Same here.

That being said, once you see the pictures of the MU2 behind an icing tanker creating SLD conditions, OMG. The plane can carry enormous amount of ice and still fly. I simply cannot imagine the pilots who let that much ice build and not do something about it.

I would go fly with Mike C.
If a long flight I would let him show me the ropes then go sleep like a baby in the back for a couple hours.

Not no but Hell no I would not go fly with a newbie...like I would in a Pilatus

Anyone have a link to video of these icing tests?

In a heartbeat I would fly in an MU2. Flew in the back of one about 30 years ago and have wanted to fly up front in one or better yet own one ever since. I have had a bit of a pause between Pascal and Nathan since I knew both of them and there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Regardless I would still fly in one with a competent pilot.

I for one thing they look awesome!

No, I don't.

They are part of the icing video AMOC process and Mitsubishi is, for some reason, very particular about who gets to see them.

You asked "Who would fly in one ?"

I think he was just answering the question ? Saying he would fly in one.

Anyhow, sign me up. I even went to PROP last year due to my interest.
