In a post recently, the question was asked “what would you buy for ten million” that’s fun to talk about but the reality for many turbine buyers is low $1’s

So my question is what would you buy for 1.3 mil? And why?

CJ, with dual 750’s, ADS-B, new paint, new interior, fully funded on TAP. With the money left over I’ll pay for training and first year insurance.

IMO, that's not as interesting a question as it is to propose and annual budget and find the best fit for said budget. At $1.3m the range of possibilities for purchase is wildly different, as are the all-in costs of ownership. An early Citation, Mustang, Conquest II, TBM and Meridian all fit that budget, however the opex and overall operating costs are dramatically different, making the purchase cost irrelevant.

As in real estate, there are only three important things in aviation - mission, mission, and mission.

I'd probably get either a legacy TBM850 or if the budget didn't stretch for that, a TBM 700c2 or a C90GT or Blackhawk C90.

Jets eliminate too many fields for me, we fly to rural America.
The C441/B200 is my dilemma in that price range.
King Air is my dream, but the nose baggage and familiarity of the 441 is appealing.

What’s it like to haul 400 lbs up the stair and into the back of a King Air?

The nose baggage is definitely a nice feature on the Conquest. I’ve never thought much about King Airs and baggage, you either sit it in the door or hand it to someone else. l can see where if l was use to having the nose baggage I’d miss it. Lockers help.

Exactly Don, you should get into this whole expense/cost of ownership thing.

Can we pick 250hrs per year as the baseline for usage?
