Any fair comparison would have to be NA to NA and turbo to turbo. Then the pilots would have to switch airplanes. I love sibling rivalry and two doors.

Mark,

You have half of the ingredients for a turbo to turbo comparison, a T210. Maybe you could find a local turbo Bonanza owner to do the run off with you, although it looks like from the AOPA contest the T210 is hands down the faster plane. :D

Thanks! For my bird 36"/2700 is take-off power limited to 5 minutes. My fuel flow is above 36gph (by the EDM 800) and then I drop to 31"/2500 full rich for the rest of the climb. #4 is my pesky cylinder with the highest EGT and in climb the highest CHT. The 500-600 fpm climb yields 120 kts which keeps that cylinder in check for now.

You might try continuing the climb at 2700 rpm. I think that will make it run a little cooler. In cruise, my 210 runs cooler with more rpm.

I’m a bit slowed down at this point, but I’ll be ready soon.

JG,

If we do not split hairs, then how else can we get to over 300 pages like the Cirrus SJ-50 thread?

I think a three way should be in the mix. What is the closest Piper competitor? The Comanche?

yes, and if you follow the AOPA template for doing comparisons, the comanche selected should be either a 180 or a 400

Four way-
Piper - Saratoga and Aerostar
Mitsubishi- MU2 (despite the dis advantage of two engines)

Actually the AOPA comparison is valid from the perspective it is based on two planes in the same rental fleet. Further, when you look at 210 for sale, I see many more turbo variants. When you look at the 36, many more are NA.
Therefore, the comparison in the article is based upon what is the most common variant of each model; and have similar price point ranges (or at least over lapping).

Hi all and new to BT. This may be a bit off topic, so apologies in advance. I fly a P210 which is getting a Vitatoe conversion. It replaces the stock engine with a TN 550 with much improved performance.
Bo and 210 both great airplanes. When I was shopping I wanted ease of entry/exit, especially for my wife. Performance wasn't as important. I wonder how many made the buying decision based on that. Ultimately decided on a pressurized and now that I've flown it for 8 years, I won't go back.

Nobody's mentioned the most obvious benefit of a high wing:

Camping shade.

Nah, having hit my head a few times on high wings. Here is what they provide the most of:

Now that I have gone to the 310 I have lost the camping shade, easy fuel drain, two doors and short field capabilites  But now we can do the Baron, 310 flyoff.

They flew a '75 C210 against a '92 A36 that was 200 lbs heavier empty. I would wager that extra 200 lbs accounted for much of the performance difference.
