Congratulations John - beautiful airplane! Did you get to fly with Caleb at all before they handed the keys over?

No doubt that I stretched our finances to make this happen but without even considering my love for aviation, when property leveraged these planes are an incredibly powerful tool to propel a business like mine and many others. I could justify owning this on just the value of connecting my employees with our customers - I have a rule that I rotate and bring each and every one of my team members to customer meetings even if they don't play a part in the meeting. I want them to know how their work affects customers and to create connections. These connections eliminate "we can't" and instead create "I'll find a way". My incremental cost for this is maybe $500/trip and my return is immeasurable- I just get to fly around and repeat this until we create a huge success - I am a lucky man because my job isn't really much harder than that - aviation creates the magic and I just steer the plane. Nice perspective, John. One additional thing that I've found in having an airplane that travels higher, faster, and better negotiates weather is that we tend to go to more meetings, events, and various sessions that we otherwise might have passed on. It's helped my employees to get more on top of our industry.

Back to work. Operating cost/nm on the light jets is very competitive with turboprops. Higher capital cost is typically the barrier.

Back to work. Anthony, in my long range comparison list, jets come last in every category except short travel time. And even so, only the CJ. Turboprops are still a lot more efficient in all categories. https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=144270But jets are cooler!

Yup, capital cost for a PC-12 is not a barrier to move up to many used jets.
Anytime.

Luckily for me, the industry keeps producing small jets and that capital cost keeps lowering. I just have to keep figuring out how to make more money and eventually those curves will intersect.
I tell my board all the time, don’t sweat me not working or taking it easy. Jets are $$$.

Hi John,
Great to see you enjoying the plane, looks great. Do you not use engine sync?

John,
Congratulations on the new plane! Now that you have even more capability will you always be the pilot or have others fly sometimes so that employees can move around the country faster without requiring you to be there?
I find that we can get to prospective opportunities very quickly with the plane which is the key not the cost. I can justify the expense of plane and pilot for trips with one or two employees on a cost trading basis some of the time. But when factoring in the opportunity the cost shrinks enormously. The problem is, that even though I'd love to be the company's pilot other time demands make that impossible. Love to hear your experience.
