My wife and I just got back from the CJP convention in Phoenix and I have to say it was a blast and one of the best aviation related events I have attended - ever. The seminars, the content, the speakers, the fellow pilots and the venue were fantastic. We also were able to meet a lot of our great friends from BT and CJP as well as make lots of new friends. Claudia and I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Andrew and Natalie Vann - a first class couple.

Highlights of the trip were the party at Hangar One in Scottsdale where Textron had part of the Citation line up including a Tamarack equipped CJ2, an M2, a CJ3 a CJ3+ and a Citation Latitude, the dinner auction and private concert with Jake Owen, along with all of the fantastic seminars and breakout sessions. The speakers were equally impressive - Neil Singer, Charlie Precourt, Brian Shul, and the list goes on.... Tamarack also provided demo rides on the CJ, a CJ2 and a CJ3 - eye-openers for most on how this technology makes a good airplane fantastic (keep an eye on Tamarack - big announcements coming).

Claudia also enrolled on the companion's flight training course and was able to land our plane... 3 times! Now she is talking about getting her pilot's license!

And to top it all off, Mark Hangen and Blondie organized a great dinner party at the Elements in the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort with the added bonus that Mike Penman and his beautiful wife came down from Telluride to meet up with all of us.

Here are some pics of the week and photos of the wonderful dinner we had last night with all our BT/CJP friends - John, Carlos, Ken, Darin, Bill, Clint and Carol, Allen and Marie, Micheal and Charlotte, Andrew and Natalie, and of course Claudia at the end. Thank you guys for a wonderful time - let's do it again!

And notice how while we were all talking airplanes, Mark was entertaining the ladies - who's got his priorities right?

A view at FL450 in the CJ3 - the CJ3 not only climbs faster, but speeds up to MMO and maintains this speed at economy cruise settings, improving the specific range from .58 to .63/.64. Nick Guida and his team are on to something good - what's next? EMB100? C510? Challenger? Boeing? I guess we'll find out soon.

An absolute blast hanging with the boys! (and, in my case..the girls  )

PS...Michael P had to pay a small fee for not being Citation type rated.

Wow - it's telling that Textron was so supportive of this event (a good thing). They were practically a no show at the ABS 50th/ Bonanza 70th celebration in their backyard Wichita last month...

Hi Alex, thanks for your kind words and hanging out Nat and myself the last few days. I had an absolute blast and more importantly Nat did at an aviation event! Go figure.

As Alex says it was a great event.

As for Mark and blondie thanks champ for arranging last night. It was a blast meeting all the BT friends that I only ever knew via this forum. It’s wonderful that we get connections like this.

I got to spend a bunch of time with the master , Allen W, what a legend.

Better all get prepared for next year!

Andrew

It was great being able to meet long term BT brethren and share our mutual love of aviation.

We are off to NBAA in Vegas this week for a bit more.

Gotta say although just a lurker and a dreamer CJP group is quite impressive! And what a convention it would appear. Sorry I missed the safety webinar.

Mark, thanks for arranging the dinner. It was a lot of fun. Too bad you weren't able to attend the convention, but hopefully next year will work out. It was great to get together with some fellow BT'ers and have such a great time. Also, I think Penman's "no type rating" could be changing before too long!

Looking at the three guys on the right (guys end picture) Darin King (sitting)...first Captain I ever flew with in a Citation. We aborted the takeoff due to right engine maxing out at 92%. Darin is a pro pilot for a company and flies their Excel and CJ2+. He is John L's safety pilot in the CJ2. The second guy (standing) is Bill Shannon. He flies a Falcon 7X. The third guy (sitting) is Ken Casey. He is pretty much the Mayor of Aviation in Scottsdale. He got me hooked up flying contract work. He is the guy who found JL his new ride. You want to wake up drunk is a country you have never heard of? ...these three guys are your ticket.

Alex - Great write up!

I tried to make this years convention but just couldn't work it out.

Did CJP mention where it will be held next year?

CJP will be in San Antonio next year. Should be a good one.

No one does a airplane convention/get-together like CJP.
Everything is top shelf.
