Manolito,
Having it done as part of the pre-purchase would have been my choice, I will assume you are beyond that now. You stated you intend to remove and repair or replace the #1 cylinder when you get back to the Philippines, it would make since to do it then as you will need to remove nearly half of the exhaust components for this task.

Attachment: IMG_0101.JPG The AD on the exhaust system may be more than a materials problem. We are still waiting delivery of the complete exhaust system ordered AOG last Friday morning. It was confirmed to be in stock but Lycoming has yet to give any ETA as yet. To get the aircraft back to work we ordered a brand new riser P/N 40B22621 from Cessna/Textron. We received it this morning only to find it was cracked exactly in the place the AD has you inspect for cracks every 25 hours. Sure has a pretty 8130 certificate with it though.

One jug had to be pulled and sent to the machine shop for the broken stud to be removed. Not cheap. The first stud was missed on prebuy so double check them! I check them VERY frequently! Didn't know there was a new exhaust option. Thanks for the info Steve. Scott, We have one of these exhaust kits on order through Aviall, on an AOG basis for a customer that fly's nearly forty hours a week. An aircraft on the ground makes him no money. Lycoming is horrific on AOG orders, we approved a $250 AOG fee with Aviall and another $300 AOG fee to Lycoming, submitted the order Last Friday and still have no detail as when the unit will ship. We purchased a replacement riser and will get the aircraft back in the air for now. We order parts from all General Aviation companies most do very well at getting orders out the door. Continental and Lycoming are the worst. Scott, FYI I did try Cessna/Textron on this kit. They had no inventory but did quote it at $7154 with our discount. This is nearly $2k above my cost through Lycoming distribution. If you have a 206H I would get one of these on order before they jack the price up. The kit I ordered 05J28883 is drilled for six EGT probes, the part number for the undrilled stacks is 05J28882. As of last Friday Lycoming had no stock on undrilled systems.
Thanks for the heads up Steve!! I'll get one ordered ASAP!

How's the gas consumption too? Thanks. Lit
Manolito I'm at 1150 hrs on the engine. Cruise ROP at 147 TAS, at 2350/26.5 and 18.2 gph. LOP is 137 TAS and 13.5 gph. I won't let CHT exceed 350. It's by no means fast or sexy but it'll haul a hell of a load, is very stable and a piece of cake to fly. Great plane!

That needs to go to the FAA, someone's head needs to fall over that one. Let's face it - there are A&Ps who would install a "new" part without inspecting it, and I'm pretty sure no-one would pay for your time to R&R that twice...

That brand new part with the crack is crazy. It looks like insufficient weld penetration rather than a crack. I for sure wouldn't go to the FAA on this but I would make some heads roll at Textron.

If you just want to get the trip done, that is flyable in one long day if the weather is clear.

I agree, but you are in a turbo 206 and it shouldn't be that bad. @ 130 kts that should be 7-8 hours, and you may get there even faster at altitude.
3.5, potty break and lunch, and 4 more. You're home.
I did Tyler, TX to Salt Lake in a day in a non-turbo 182 dodging weather, and this is only 100 miles more. On another trip I did KAPA to KBOI and had lunch at my destination.
It sounds like a fun trip to me!

I fly between 10-12k and get 150 True LOP @ 14.6 GPH. It does pay to climb in a T206.

Alex what MP and RPM please? Also what are your CHTs? I've never seen 150 TAS LOP.

I'm watching the Cowboys poor performance so I didn't go through all my pictures, but here is a picture with a little less than 14.6 GPH I quoted. I think these are 147 True @ 11K, 31.7MP, 1560 TIT, 380 CHT, 14.2 GPH , -68LOP. It will do right at 150 with a little more fuel and a 1600TIT and about 400CHT.
