2 hours really? Wow

I've got 13 hrs in the Honda. It's a cool airplane, very quiet and fast and fuel efficient if you can get high. However it's really a 2 hr airplane.

There are a LOT of options out there on the used market for a fraction of $4.5M - but I guess if you want that "new-airplane" smell, the search narrows

I'm told they are working on a larger version. Tube size is a little bigger than a CJ1 or M2, but again I'd argue aft space is wasted on the big lav. Headroom is tight for me at 6'4", although plenty of room in the pilot seat... although like the PC12 the front seats are rock hard but that's fixable with the Oregon aero cushion (tip thx 2 Pennman!). Also ref speeds are high.

Wonder what the price point will be vs the Citations

HondaJet is the same price as an M2.

So the assumption is the price point of the larger version of the HondaJet will probably be in the CJ 3-4 category.

Thanks Jason

Probably because they had a bunch build up when they got the final FAA type certificate?
Just ready for delivery thats why they show a big delivery number for the first half of 2017?

The revolutionary aircraft is racking up accolades and sales.

As if winning the inaugural Flying Innovation Award at AirVenture 2017 wasn’t already a noteworthy accomplishment, HondaJet hasn’t left the spotlight just yet. Honda Aircraft Co. announced this week that the HondaJet was the most delivered light jet of the first half of 2017, with 24 airplanes were shipped out to buyers in North America and Europe.

“Our customers are extremely pleased with the performance, comfort and superior fit and finish of the HondaJet,” Honda Aircraft President and CEO Michimasa Fujino said. “The HondaJet is very high tech, sporty aircraft and it is like a flying, high-precision sports car. We want to create new value in business aviation and I hope to see many more HondaJets flying all over the world.”

Honda’s Greensboro, North Carolina, facility is producing four HondaJets per month to fulfill that vision and meet current customer demand.

The company shouldn’t put the party hats away yet, though, because the HondaJet is on a roll with more good news. Last week, Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) awarded type certification for the HondaJet, which the company announced at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition in Sao Paulo.
“We are eager to respond to customer interest in one of the largest business jet markets in the world,” Fujino said at the event. The HondaJet is currently being showcased throughout Central and Latin America.

...and loses to the M2 based on range and service as far as I can tell. Besides a slight speed advantage (which I doubt anyone would trade the range for) I don't see where it beats an M2.

I was just responding to the pricing questions.

All the mini-jets are in that mid $4.5MM range. All the CJ3, CJ4, Phenom 300, PC24 are in the $8.5MM-$9.5MM range.

I think if Tamarack gets the rumored FL450 certification for the M2 with their winglets Honda will have a tough hill to climb to beat Cessna. I've got my fingers crossed that the HondaJet is just a means to an end, though. If Honda started making purchasing a business jet like purchasing an airliner by offering another OEM engine option for Cessna/Embraer I think there'd be a big drop in prices for aircraft and engine programs. Williams and Pratt have a monopoly right now on the CJ and Phenom series and price their engines and programs accordingly.

Wow. Only 2700 lbs of fuel. That really surprises me, along with Adam's comment about being a 2-hr jet. That doesn't fill the bill like I thought it would.

And for the same price as an M2 - I'll take an M2 any day of the week, thank you...

Same here. Heck, my Mustang holds 2700 lbs of fuel with greater range. I didn't realize that could be the case. I thought the HondaJet was more of game changer than that.

Just to inject some data, HondaJet specs on its web site say 1223 NM NBAA IFR range, M2 specs say 1550 nm range, but that's for NBAA ferry specs (i.e. no pax, perhaps no alternate, not sure exactly what conditions it means). This website says NBAA IFR range is 1300 NM, which is not ridiculously farther than the HondaJet claims.

They're not radically different in performance, basically. Honda a hair faster and can get to FL430, M2 hauls a little more and tops out at FL410.

For the record the book on the HDJT is 2900 lbs of fuel. We just can't reliably get more than 2700 into it. I don't know if it's a problem with ours or a fleet wide issue, although I've heard others complain. I suspect it has to do with feeding the fuel from the center tank to the two wing tanks from the single fueling point. I also suspect if you fuel it full, wait 5 mins, fuel it more, rinse wash repeat we could possibly get it all the way full. But that's a PITA and doesn't work in the real world.

That's an amazing problem if it's fleet wide.

I wonder if you have to fuel over wing to get the max amount in the tanks?
