To quote the article I first saw about this "When we think of "flying DeLorean," somehow this isn't quite what we've had in mind." http://www.deloreanaerospace.comInteresting concept, dare I say unique? Have you seen any airframes with a configuration like this? Also FTA: Quote: It looks less like a car than a plane, with two sets of wings, winglets underneath, and two large ducted fans that sit horizontally for takeoff before rotating to vertical for forward flight. Still in the R&D phase, it will measure 20 feet long and 18.5 feet wide, with the ability to tuck its wings to the sides to fit in large garages. The hope is to have a full-scale prototype in the air by next year, with the ultimate goal of squeezing 120 miles of range out of its all-electric propulsion system. https://uncrate.com/article/delorean-dr-7-aircraft/

100 dollars says it never gets to pattern altitude. Never.

You mean the picture on their website isn't of an actual aircraft? It's a cartoon you say?

Yeah, something like that.
When it flies, let me know.

Cessna Skymaster. Sorry, I wasn't thinking of the twin engine (tractor/pusher) configuration, more the wing configuration.

Considering how the Osprey seems to be a bit of a handful switching from hover/helicopter mode to forward flight, they'd better start praying.

Still a skeptic by a large measure. Very little has changed or been improved upon in GA aside from avionics over the years. Fantasy plane. Sweet dreams.

What provides roll control in vertical lift mode? The lack of a vertical stabilizer is also worrisome, I guess the engines can provide active yaw control, but that looks like an ugly control system problem.
It seems like the modern fantasy of vertical lift aircraft / flying cars that use tiny ducted engines. Helicopters use huge blade circles because for efficient life you want to move a lot of air slowly, not a little air quickly. (thrust goes as M*V, power as M*V^2 you want a lot of mass to move).
Yes, with a big enough engine a ducted fan will work, but then you are carrying around a much more powerful engine than you really need. It would also be *loud* at takeoff.
Its very pretty.
