I sold my Baron back in early spring to a very nice BT'er. I began my search for something bigger (cabin class), faster, ability to go higher, turbo charged, and preasureization.

We'll, I settled for everything but preasureization. I just didn't want to give up my short field ops, so preasureization was going to have to wait. So I searched and found a very nice, original 1981 "C" Navaho with the Panther conversion. I purchased it from Mike Jones at Mike Jones aircraft in Tennessee and it was a smooth transaction and both sides did what they said they were going to do. I highly recommend him if you're in the market for a Navajo.

I've always been a Beech guy but I must say, this is a can do airplane. I have a few photos that aren't the best but I know photos or it didn't happen.

Damn that's sweet.

Rick - that's one beautiful Panther Navajo! 25 years ago I had a hangar neighbor at Van Nuys who owned a Navajo that looked just like yours. I don't recall the fellow's name, but he was an attorney and was frequently at the airport with his wife. They were the most interesting couple because they made keeping their Navajo pristine a couples affair. The wife worked as hard keeping that ship pristine as did her husband - I can still see her in my head, under the wing with a roll of paper towels and 5606 to keep the struts spotless. I couldn't get my kids to do that, let alone a wife or gf! I wonder if your plane is that plane? Of course, it was not a Colemill conversion at that time but it sure would have been the perfect candidate for that upgrade.

It's very possible. This was a one owner airplane bought new by an attorney and his wife. The conversion was done a few years ago and he lives in Oregon when I purchased it. The coffee pots are still new and it has the original six Navaho glasses with cloth napkins in the bar. I believe he's probably in his mid 80's.

Rick - It has to be the same Navajo - the fact that it was one owner who was an attorney now in his 80's ties it all together! Being a bit OCD with my planes, I could not get over how this fellow and his wife made me look like an absolute slob. I don't think I have ever seen a better maintained airplane - and that includes my own. You got yourself one hell of a machine. Congratulations on that!

Wow! I would get a kick out of a picture of the glasses, napkins and coffee pots. I think we still have the original coffee pots too. I will post a pic of ours if we could see yours.

What a neat ship! Especially like the G600 conversion. Is the AC switched to R134a?

Nice Plane!

You gotta tell us speed, fuel burn, range etc. and compare it to the Baron.

You have a GORGEOUS plane! I love the Navajo but never got used to the two times sitting in the back as a PAX and seeing the orange under the cowling at night.

After about 20 hours this is what I'm seeing.....

Navajo climb... 500 fpm, 38" mp, 2400 rpm, 60 gph, 145-155 knots
Baron climb... 500 fpm, WOT, 2500 rpm, 135-145 knots

Navaho cruise... 32" mp, 2200 rpm, 40gph, 200-210 knots 12500 msl
Baron cruise... WOT, 2500 rpm, 30 gph, 185-190 knots

Not a big difference in speed vs fuel burn, but it's a true 6-7 passenger airplane with luggage, 186 gals fuel and is very capable of short field unimproved ops. It's been a very impressive ride so far. Not to mention cabin class too......

This is the "C" model which is the lightest of the three models. I also have the wing locker fuel tanks which gives another 52 gallons you can pump over into the mains. That is a great feature if your load allows you to tanker fuel.

Rick,

Those J2Bs will run very well LOP. As you get more comfortable those numbers will improve dramatically.

Best,

Good numbers for all that room. Wish  they were cheaper.
