In the market for one of these two aircraft. Eliminated all others as I want something newer and with G1000.

The longest nonstop mission I want to do is 1030NM which both planes can do. Mustang can do this trip unless it hits more than a 30kt headwind to maintain alternate reserves. The 100 really doesn't provide any additional range it's just faster. According to the POH and flt plan the 100 gets there maybe 10-15 minutes faster and burns maybe 200-300 lbs more of fuel. Both planes carry about the same load as well.

I fully expect to pay around 500k more for the 100 and could get comfortable with that. I have not sat in one yet but I did sit in the Mustang and was happy with the interior.

What are people's thoughts?

Get the Mustang. You will get to appreciate Cessna's service network, mobile service units that can come to you, and support. People in Phenom 100's seem to quickly look to move into something else. Lot's of long term happy Mustang owners are out there. Join the two owners organizations and hear about the ownership experience. There is much more to consider in owning a turbojet then a few knots speed difference.

Where are you located?

What aircraft have you owned so far?

Is $500,000 a realistic number to get a nice plane or did you mean equity with the balance financed? Of course, that's just the entry price.
Is now see you said $500 more for one. So, I may be misunderstanding.

Dave I think he meant that the P100 will cost a half million more.

This should be an interesting thread. Even for Baron drivers

Much of this has been covered at "TBM 850, Phenom 100 or Cessna Mustang?" https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=133428&hilit=phenom

That's a tough one... and yes it has been discussed but I don't know that the question has been answered.

I like both airplanes. I think the Phenom is a nicer airplane "fit and finish" wise, but it's a lot more money... so it should be.

The speed is nice as well.

The Mustang definitely gives you advantages from a maintenance and support standpoint and while everyone I talk to with a Mustang loves it... and everyone with a Phenom 300 loves it... I don't hear the same about the 100.

A huge question is are you going to want to upgrade to a larger airplane in the future?

The Mustang offers a clear upgrade path, you could buy an M2, CJ3+, etc... The Phenom offers a jump from the 100 to the 300... (think Mustang jumping to a CJ4) so in my opinion there is no easy upgrade path... unless you plan on spending $7M soon...

Earlier this year we purchased a CJ1 for a client, he was also considering the Premier I, it's a lot faster, a much nicer cabin and about the same money. After getting to know him and his plans for the future I encouraged him to go with the CJ1 because even though I love the Premier there's no upgrade path.

He called me last week and told me that by the end of the year he will have us looking for a CJ2/2+, he loves the CJ but is already thinking faster and farther.

My suggestion is the Mustang, the Phenom is more airplane... but so is the rest of the Citation line and you can work your way up easily and economically.

Embraer has a substantial service network including mobile units. Same day service has never been a problem.

I'm not sure where you get the "..100's seem to quickly look to move into something else" from. That has not been my experience. We have a great pilot group and the only thing I see Phenom 100 owners moving into is a Phenom 300. It would be nice to have a 200; I'll give you that. I've flown group trips with Mustang owners and they all wanted my plane; I never wanted theirs :dancing: Cessna ended the Mustang program; the Phenom 100 program is going strong.

Given the number of Mustangs for sale I'm sure you could find a great buy.

In 2016 Cessna delivered 10 Mustangs. And 2 in 1Q2017.

In 2016 10 Phenom 100s were delivered. And 3 in 1Q2017.

Let's see if more 100s then Mustangs ever get built.

Thanks all for the thoughts.

I did read through the Mustang, TBM, Phenom thread, but it got side tracked on several things and as was mentioned here, never quite came to a conclusion (probably never will).

I'm currently having a market analysis done on both planes to really know if the difference is only $500k between the Mustang and 100. Looking online it feels like it is more when trying to find similar hours, etc.

The end game has not been decided yet, but it may feel like a CJ3+ or Phenom 300. As our company grows these types of aircraft would be nearly perfect for our missions.

If you can pay more, get the Phenom. It's not really a comparison when one costs more than the other.

I've been shopping and as a part of my research I got a type rating in both of the jets I was considering. 20 days.... Lots of time, lots of work, lots of money. But I have to get rated in whatever I get so I needed one of the ratings.

I learned a lot, we spent hours going through performance calculations for my missions (if you have to learn this stuff, why do generic calculations?). Of course, I learned all the systems procedures etc. but I won't use this information just to pilot the airplane, I'll use it in my purchase decision.

For me, it made the decision very clear. I was considering a legacy citation vs a CJ2. In my case, the CJ won hands down.

I've also flown both. CJ also won. One of the unexpected things that came out of the training and the flying is how much I like the proline 21 avionics. I don't know my way around them very well and I think the interface is clunky but I'm sure I'll figure it all out. Once I do, it has some powerful tool. Better than my G600/GTN 750's.

One of the things that I'm scared of flying SP in a jet is a busy arrival with multiple crossing restrictions and speeds. Proline makes this a cinch. Yes, garmin has the vcalc (I use it on every flight in my KA) but it l lets you set one and you don't get a glideslope (just a range marker)

Do both fit in your hangar?

I don't think either have Single Point PRESSURE Refueling (nor does the Honda...).
This is something that really is nice to have.

There may be more options on recurrent training for the Mustang down the road.
