Hi Fred - We have handled numerous placements over the years on all Lancair models (mostly Legacys, IV/IVP's and Evos) - yes the IVP has a horrible track record with the underwriting markets here in the USA. A good number of them won't touch the aircraft for either hull and liability or just liability only. That said you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a liability only policy however it will likely run you a few grand and based on your pilot experience of course. I prepared a matrix about 6 months ago for several of the USA based Lancair dealers - the matrix listed every available markets and who was writing what or not writing policies at all. If you would like I can send that market summary to you - just PM me.
PS - This information is in no way a personal bias for or against the aircraft - it is simply informational in terms of the current market appetite for Lancair insurance
Thank you th

On the 2-place, the wheel bearings are highly pre-loaded so that the wheels won't spin more than a couple inches if you give them a push. That's to keep the integral bearing seals from spinning in the wheel.

Michael,
At what speed does the IV-P stall in a turn with the brakes out?
