I absolutely can't get enough of this Merlin. Too bad they never offered one with maybe the same motor on the Cheyenne 4; the airframe can take it and it would be a beast. Oh well...I guess I'll just have to settle for 305.



I always say someone should do a -14 engine upgrade for the Merlin.

You are thinking right, no need to get rid of it if it's working. Sure looks like Collins Pro-Line.
That and ForeFlight can save a good chunk of cash.
Look in the nose compartment for your radios. They look like something that belongs in a Lockheed Constellation.

I have kind of been an avionics nut since I was a kid. I knew those did not look like King's KFS- series or Collins 313N-series heads. My dad had Collins Pro-Line and Wilcox Grand Line in his B55 with Gables heads that looked just like Craigs. So I had the advantage of experience at a young age. I have never seen both comm's with the 1/2 transfer switch - always seemed to be isolated to comm 1. That said, I'm sure someone somewhere has them.

Tom, When may parents selected the N number for their B55, they chose N3450R. This was their wedding date 3-4-1950 and R for mother's nickname 'Rennie'. The R was taken so Dad suggested S for 'Sugar'. The airplane was know as Sugar from then on. I bet you have a story about 'Miss Maya'.

Craig, Like most have mentioned already, those are Gables heads driving either King Gold Crown or Collins Pro-Line Airline Series radios. You can probably find these at either Dodson (Rantoul KS), White (Bates City MO) or Atlanta Air Salvage (Griffin GA). Good hunting. :peace: ~ Mark

My airplane came with KX175B's.
About 200lbs a piece by the time all the boxes are factored in, but my god - they're clear as a whistle and they just wont die.

I had one replaced with a GNS430 (bonus, they're the same size!) but left the 2nd unit alone.
If it ain't broke...
