Does the cessation of the Mustang make more room for sales of the new sf50?

Seems like the price point between entry level jets just got bigger.

Will Mustang prices now fall to around 1M or less? If so, then late model Bo and Malibu owners may have another upgrade besides the new or older piston twins or single engine turboprops.

The SF50 has the same range as all the mini jets so yes, it' will impact all of them. SF50 orders have probably affected Mustang orders for the last few years. Now SF50 deliveries are coming online.

A few weeks ago, I was looking at a presentation from Cirrus and the SF 50 was targeted to "fit" into a particular price point and customer base - and they seem to have met that objective. If Cessna was selling only a handful of Mustangs each year then I doubt that everyone was simply waiting on the SF 50 to come on-line and it may not fit the need for the other entry level bizjets.

It is too early to see how or if the cessation of the Mustang line will impact other prices as this will take a month or two at least to gather enough sales data. Personally, I think other external market forces have more impact than the SF 50 alone.

Good luck.

This is what Cessna does, I'm surprised anyone is surprised... it really works and makes sense if you look at it from a distance.

They have done a better job of reinventing airplanes and building series of airplanes that make sense than anyone else... it's one of the reasons why they have been so successful.

The Citation I grew into the Citation II and then the Citation V and III...

Years later the CJ came out (basically a new Citation I)

Then came the CJ1, CJ2, CJ3...

The smaller ones are fading away...

Replaced by the Mustang, and now the M2... I'm sure there's an M3 coming.

A few years from now they'll come out with another small one and start it all over again....

I suspect the USAF VLJ RFI is over. Both the Mustang and Eclipse may have trouble with no government contract.

Both are great airplanes, but customer base is small. USAF likes to plead poverty, despite DoD money disappearing every year...

If the Eclipse gets and keeps the Canada jet on the market, they have a very, very, very competitive offering. It's a longer cabin, longer range and goes to 43k.

I'm gonna head over to Albuquerque here in the next few months to see what the ruckus is all about.

Once I convince John L that's the bird, well, I'll call it Penny Jnr!!!
