A couple of items that concerned me were the gear issues and lack of cuffed wing. I saw the cuffed wing has been addressed and just heard there was a gear fix being incorporated into the newer serial numbers. Does anyone have any information on the gear modification? Also, any chance of incorporating an experimental version of the nxi g1000? Finally, any plans to incorporate the experimental version of the g700 autopilot on the planes with the -42 engines? I have over 1200 hours behind the G1000 and am not super interested in learning a new fms. Thanks. The G3X is an amazing system. Not sure how the nxi g1000 is different. Also, the autopilot on the G3X is very good. Don't think the g700 is necessary. As far as the gear mods, I'm not sure what is changed for sure. I do know that I had some issues early with nose wheel shake that I assumed had to do with shimmy, but after putting a camera on the belly of the plane, we found no shimmy whatsoever as the plane was shaking. We now believe it may be just an unbalanced nose wheel.

The g1000 is old technology, the g3x is where to spend your money, there’s almost zero learning curve to transition

I wouldn't say the nxi g1000 is old tech. It's what they're putting in the new TBM910 and the G6 Cirrus. There was a great review of the TBM 910 in Aopa magazine. Many seem to favor it over the G3000. Besides, I'm not a big fan of touch screen.

How did all the g900x adopters fare out? Boat anchors

I didn't think I'd like it either because all I could think of is how hard it would be to use in turbulence, but so far it's been a non issue.

Besides my Perspective Cirrus, I also have an Extra 330lx with a gtn750, which is a touch screen. The 750 is fine for vfr flying, but I would never pick it over the Perspective for flying approaches, sids, stars, and hard ifr. I find entering anything on the 750 slow and cumbersome, especially in bumps. Even something as simple as changing frequencies is much slower than on the Perspective. I'll admit I've never flown with a g3x, but I have to wonder why TBM didn't put the 3x in their new 910 if it's so much better than the nxi. Next time I'm at osh or s&f I'll talk to the garmin guys and get the answer. If you guys like the system you fly and are safe with it, that's all that really matters.

That may change soon ( like Tuesday ) so let’s see what TBM and Cirrus next year
The wheels of the certified world turn slowly If I'm not mistaken the g3000 is essentially the certified version of the g3x. The TBM 910 doesn't have it because it's an upgrade option for the TBM 930 (if I'm remembering that correctly).

I got your post while sitting in the lobby at Evolution. I showed it to the President and he commented that he has at least 3 other customers ready to buy IF they can get the G900nxi but he can't get Garmin to get it done.

Lots of developments from the 1st Annual Evo Fly-In this weekend.
First, the landing gear hydraulics have been completely redone. The old system used a one-way pump and a reversible shuttle valve + accumulator to pump the gear up and down. It's been prone to bleed-down and nose wheel collapse, which a series of fixes haven't resolved. They've given up on it and gone to a simpler, lighter system with a reversible pump; no shuttle valve, no accumulator. This is actually going back to the system used in the Legacy, which worked great, but when they originally designed the Evolution they couldn't find a suitable reversible pump that wasn't either too heavy or too expensive.
I've known this was coming for a few months and been building it in, it's a factor in emptying the aft utility bay, which held the old pump and accumulator. Still waiting to get a pump and some specs (hose sizes?) to fit it all in.

Other news from the fly-in: Improved A/C system, electric (so plane can be plugged in and precooled before engine start) with more capacity (1700 vs 900 cfm), redesigned ducting and ability to cool cabin air, not just incoming air. This is standard starting with ... serial #87, the plane right after mine. Ah well, that's going to happen. I gather this will be most appreciated by passengers in the back, not so noticeable for front-seaters.
Company will now sell you an Evo sans engine! All you Garrett fans, now's your chance! Also for those who want a piston engine other than Lycoming's $160,000 electronic marvel.
The company's gotten so fed up with Garmin's foot dragging on the G900/GFC700 (Garmin still haven't done the work to approve it for any of the new models, the 550, 850 or piston) that the new standard panel is now the 3X Touch, mated with the GFC500 autopilot. To deal with concerns that the 500's servos aren't strong enough for the turbine Evo, they're mating the 500 with the 700's servos. First flight should be in a week or so, then we'll see.
EAC has also started a build shop of their own, building a few customer planes a year to "eat their own food". Already they've found that those whiney build shop complaints were actually true, some instructions no longer matched the parts, etc.
And as a result of that, they're pulling some more of the build work into the first 2 weeks at the factory. The doors, for example, which took us days to get right, will now be pre-done at the factory. The net is that they intend to drop the average build time from 7 months to 5.

I still don't see a compelling argument in favor of the G900nxi- this speaks volumes to the mindset of the Evolution prospective customer base
