Looks like my plane will be in the JMB booth at Oshkosh again this year, along with another one sporting many of the same mods, aka Evolution 2.0. It will be interesting to see how many of those mods appear in the new production kits that are planned to replace us in the booth next year. Attachment: IMG_20220725_095950684.jpg I'm told there will also be demo flights available this year, as well as at least one Evo (a past Lindy winner, gorgeous plane) for sale at the show somewhere.

Username Protected wrote: My suggestion to your capped VS issue is to climb at FLC. It’s safer and won’t hold you at 2000fpm. Good call. While Garmin confirms that the GFC 500 (aka G3X) autopilot is limited to 2,000 fpm in V/S mode, my testing found that it will exceed 4,000 fpm in IAS mode (aka FLC mode in other autopilots). So I can give ATC the "good rate" they ask for without hand-flying in busy airspace. The deck angle is pretty steep at anything close to the Vy of 105 knots so that's not the usual SOP with passengers. But it's sure fun when I'm solo!

Is that somewhere between F-15 unrestricted climb and and Space Shuttle launch?

Had a chance to see Dave’s plane at OSH this week and have a nice visit with the JMB folks. I like where they are taking both the VL3 Evolution and the turbine Evolution with the build assist program in the future. My sofa cushions are just a wee bit short on the cost but overall think that the future is looking up for this airframe.
If you’re still at OSH and have a chance to stop by today (Saturday), it’s well worth your time.
Cheers

I briefly got to meet Dave shortly after the envelope was placed on his prop. Now that announcement has been made I feel compelled to post these:

Username Protected wrote: Dave, the photos you've shared are nice and all but your plane is deserving of some air to air shots. Took a little while, but here you go: Attachment: 1L3A5896_websize.jpg Video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cybt-_WLS_8It was an advertising shoot by JMB Aircraft at the Evo owners fly-in this month. There were about 20 Evos present, they asked for mine because its colors were compatible with the little airplane up front, although they said my shirt was the wrong color and loaned me a darker one. I had an ex-F-18 pilot (and current aerobatic/upset instructor) along to do the formation work. In the video you can see in slow-mo the breakaway where I learned that his G-tolerance is way higher than mine. I didn't barf in my airplane, but afterwards they didn't want the shirt back.
