This is the usual pressurization plumbing on a different Evo: Attachment: Sceet hoses (2).jpg I didn't like sceet hose for pressurization air, even though the pressure diff is within spec for sceet. Hose clamps don't fill me with confidence, and when they pop off (which has happened more than once) the cabin pressure rapidly flows out instead of in. Instead we went with this Attachment: Pressurization hoses, right side.jpg Attachment: Pressurization hoses installed, top view.jpg You can see in the top view the noisy valve, it's the black T sticking out of the firewall. These hoses are smaller cross-section than sceet, so the airflow is faster, which probably contributes to the noise, although other Evos have this same mod and haven't generated the noisy heater complaints I have.

Can you have a sonic nozzle fabricated to install in-line? That should be the trick, no?
I used some on my turbo bleed air heat setup and it greatly reduced the noise, hence why I had the sceet muffler available to sell

But what are the maintenance requirements and costs like for the EVOT? Also what's the latest and greatest with the company and insurability? I saw that it is being bought by a Czech (?) company but nothing since then. There's a very prominent Lancair instructor with 1800hrs in Evolutions, and he's being quoted $50k per year insurance, with only one underwriter in the market Needless to say, that's a very tough market.....still a fantastic airplane

I saw that it is being bought by a Czech (?) company but nothing since then. Easy questions first, insurance is available until you pass 70, but it's not cheap. The only underwriter is taking full advantage of its monopoly. The new blood is actually a Belgian company, JMB, with a factory in Czechia, and it's not a purchase, it's a joint venture. EAC chips in the molds and IP, and JMB provides the factory, with no money changing hands. Both CEOs and I were in the booth in Osh all week last year, we talked quite a bit, and at that time all the molds etc. were on a boat to Europe, with the goal of flying a new-build plane to Osh '23. I doubt they'll manage that, but having just a Czech-built kit on display would be a big deal. On maintenance costs, my plane is too new to have a track record, but in general I'll WAG that compared to certified SETP there's more minor things to address but the parts and labor are FAR cheaper, often 10-20x cheaper. Example: A TBM owner on BT said rebuilding a landing gear actuator was about $8K, as I recall. For an Evo, it's about $450.
