Yeah Dave I think I was misunderstood. These projects are a labor of love and finishing isn’t the first priority. I really enjoy watching your progress. You make it like you want it, rethink and modify as you progress, no matter how long it takes. I’d love to be involved in a project that you’ve undertaken.

By request, gussets around the doors to prevent unsightly (but non-structural) paint cracking.

Cool video, but why didn't your inner gear doors close?

Didn't hook them up for this test. Just pressurizing the system, looking for leaks and checking clearances. Easier to do without the doors in the way.

What’s the emergency extension system? Manual pump or blow down?

Blow down, or release the pressure and they freefall. A spring helps the nose gear extend against the airflow, the mains don't need one.

After having the carbon panel made, we sent it off to be leather wrapped. I swear they must have had to breed and raise a special cow, it took so long, but it finally came back done. Looks pretty sharp.

Instruments have been wired up on the bench and waiting for a while, they went right in.

And then we got locked down. Sigh.

Sorry about the lock down.
Great job on the panel!

You are an aircraft manufacturer! Doesn’t that make you essential?

While I'm chafing at the bit here, another owner has been doing some back-to-back testing of a new mod, details of which are still under wraps. Of the airplanes flying, his is probably the one most similar to mine so his "before" results should be a good estimate of what I'm looking for.

To measure TAS at max cruise, he used GPS on an equilateral triangular course, and an ITT limit of 770C for a PT6A-135A engine, same as mine, at flight levels 175, 240 and 280. He then temperature-corrected the results for an ISA standard day.

Max cruise was surprisingly consistent, 292 KTAS at both lower altitudes and losing only one knot, 291 KTAS, at FL 280. Fuel flow was of course not consistent, 47 gph at 175, 39 gph at 240 and 34 gph at 280. Time to climb from 5,000' to FL 280 was 11:50 and still climbing at over 900 fpm when he leveled off. I can see why FlightAware shows most flights at FL 270/280.

His "after" testing, BTW, showed the mod added about 7 KTAS and >100 fpm. I may consider it after I've been flying for a while but first things first.
