HA!

With that thread title, I thought we'd be talking about Cessna 340 Old Wives Tales.

Those motors could benefit from a little tuning. They'll last longer, will be more reliable, and you and your plane will be happier. I would be glad to talk you through it if that is helpful.

Fun ride.

Very nice aircraft. One of my desires. I currently drive a B58 Baron but want to fly higher without ox hoses.

I have studied these 340s quite a bit and really like them.

thanks for posting the pics...

That's purdy John. What engine analyzer is that??

I put about 60hrs on a Ram C340 last year. I loved it although I wasn't the one who had to write the checks for MX. I also met my new hangarmate today who flies a beautiful C335. See picture below.

Love the twin Cessnas and nearly bought one this past year.

340A is a can do pressurized plane.

None of my business but I don't like some of those cylinder temps on that right engine. RAM IV chart would have you at 29inches of MP and 17.5 GPH per. Old gauge says 30", but I see the monitor says 28.5. I think you got to put some more gas through it.

Or perhaps the timing is way advanced on the right engine vs the left engine. Has that been checked with an accurate, digital timing system?

Very nice planes. The room and general performance is quite good and it's a real treat to fly. Owned by a fellow beechtalker and I've been lucky to be flying it a bit and it's getting to be very well equipped. Paint is very good and interior is as well. More gas than a 55, but a world apart comfort wise.

Correct. The owner has put GAMIs on the plane and replaced a few cylinders and a turbo. Still sort of being dialed in.

The 540 is amazing as a GPS.

The 340/400 series Cessnas have the best cockpit in GA...

Leg room, great visibility, low glareshield, all the electrical is accessable without reaching for anything. Your right had falls on the throttles and the trim wheel is so handy that it is almost easier to use than the electric trim....

For the real deal, the -425 w/135s or a -441 are phenomenal airplanes... Most say Cessna quit building them because they were too much competition for the -500s....

Awe--turbines elude me like unicorns.

But I've always heard the sweet spot was the Cheyenne.
