by that reasoning, plenty of skydiving 182's are "authorized" to carry 6 or more

Another example of why "authorized" is a poor word to use. I actually had that thought, too, though. An airplane with 1 seat can, under special circumstances, be "authorized" to carry more than 1 person, but, aren't those flights done via a special waiver? And the pilots flying those planes would be outside basic med anyway, so it's really an academic discussion.

My understanding was the current interpretation of 91.107 still allows kids to share a belt. You can question the wisdom, but that would be normal operations.

Appears there is a company called aeronotix who claims to have a 6 pax STC on the cusp of approval. Anyone heard more info on this?

Looks like AOPA now has an STC to limit the PA32 to 6 passengers to make it BasicMed compliant. The STC is free for AOPA members:

And now the Aeronotix STC is free. Looks like a classic case of rug pulling by AOPA. AOPA just dropped it with no warning.

As Jeff Wright says, there had to be a seat limit.

No, it could have been done by weight alone.

6000 lbs now.

Then work on pushing it up to 12,500 lbs.

Seats don't matter and its a very fungible thing anyway as this thread points out. Weight isn't as much.
