To be the cynic, sounds more like Garmin innovated and Cirrus ordered the new parts.

I dunno--
The Yaw Damper engages/disengages automatically and the wigwag lights are automated based on height AGL. It isn't rocket science or all too earth shattering or perhaps even "necessary" but compared to what Textron is doing, I'd call it innovation.

From AOPA Aviation eBrief: "Garmin's G1000 NXi, successor to the G1000 integrated flight deck, made its debut this week as part of Textron Aviation's piston product line. The avionics system will be available on the Cessna Skyhawk 172, Skylane 182 and Turbo Stationair HD T206, as well as on the Beechcraft Bonanza G36 and Baron G58."
