Or are you on a "Duke or Baron" only quest. That Aztec is sweeeeet! The price makes it twice as nice. Question: isn't really an Apache? Whichever, it looks like a great low cost twin.

Chris, you must have a lot of time on your hands. But saving a plane is a worthwhile hobby. I hope you find just the one you would like.

Chris I'm a bit confused here [not a rare occurance]. You say later that you'd consider a Duke. Is a Duke ok for a one-person mission but a Twin Bonanza isn't?? I am not criticizing, I just don't get it yet.

There is a Travel Air at McKinney Airport (KTKI) that according to stickers on it, has flown around the world. It hasn't flown since 2006 to my knowledge, since I have the tie-down spot right next to it. It looks to be in OK condition, apart from bird nests and years of accumulated grime, flat tires, and some wind damage to the rudder caused by a loose retainer. Every few years the FBO blows up the tires and moves it around, and it looks good for a month or two. Then it looks sadder and sadder. I've often thought of buying it cheap and fixing it up, but not being particularly handy I would have to pay others to do most of the work, and it wouldn't be economic. So unless some A&P/IA who loves it and can fix it decides to take on the project, it will end up on the scrap heap someday.
