I would guess that there's one person or team working on the ad content (TTx vs SR 22) and then a different person or team is asked to buy ad space on websites that cater to the small airplane crowd.

So you wind up with ad content that's not really tailored to BT, just the same ads showing on every other site.

Oh, I agree that's it's a good thing. I had developed the feeling that Textron just wasn't caring about their piston sales. But maybe now someone is throwing some resources at this market??

Maybe they finally realized what they have... it's the best airplane in that class... IMHO it is much nicer than the Cirrus.

I'm always glad to see advertisers support BT and to see them support the print publications on aviation that I occasionally read.

I do find it weird to think about the numbers involved. If they put an ad for a new piston airplane in AOPA Pilot or the EAA magazine or Flying or Plane & Pilot..... how many million times is that ad printed for every additional plane that is sold?

If you look at the number of new Barons or Bonanzas or TTx's sold per quarter.... (a dozen, maybe 2?) versus the number of ads... I just can't make it fit any advertising model that I'm familiar with or understand. Of the dozen new Bonanzas they might sell, how many people would not have bought one, absent the ad? It's just hard to figure out how to measure effectiveness of advertising in the new plane context.

Without knowing what they pay for an ad the wondering part is meaningless.

If say an ad here on BT is 10 cents for a month it is one thing; if an ad here on BT is 1000 smackers per month it is a different calculation.

Make it cheap and it is very worthwhile to advertise, make it expensive and you start wondering about it in terms of risk / reward.

As far as plastic wonders go I'd rather be in an aluminume A36 with a pilot side door, or for the money I'd get a Mooney they come with pilot side doors, yup they do. Anyone thats thinking about any of the Plastic airplanes without first thinking of the the new Mooneys got something wrong in the head.

I think that as seems perfectly tailored to BT. Why would an airplane company not want to advertise on a site that has nothing but tens of thousands of owner/pilots using it? Seems close to ideal.

I think of BT as catering to the owners of older Beech planes who are involved in maintenance and upgrades. So not the new-plane market.

But then again, maybe it is the right crowd.... plenty of people here are driving newer planes. At a minimum they are owners and pilots, which is a pretty good segment.

1100lb fully equipped useful load vs 850lb if you're lucky (or 900 on the G36 if TKS equipped, yes you can bump it up to 4000lb on 300hp and enjoy some "spectacular" climb rates, great if you're a bird watcher, who doesn't want to see what's in that nest in the pines at the end of the runway)?

Parts over nighted from factory vs a vague promise of something 6 months from now.

Regular software updates vs waiting 10 years for WASS/ADS-B update.

Mooney/G36 are pretty to look at in the maintenance hangar. Cirrus can actually make money for your company because it's in the air.

Not sure if everyone reads the "Active Threads" or "View Unread Posts" to locate their point of interest.
I've recently been "Marking All Read" then coming back in 3-4 hours and selecting "View Unread Posts". Usually I'll get a page listing of posts. Last night there were 3 pages.
I don't know anywhere you can get that type of active participation.
I'm sure the BT moderators know the stats, and can make a compelling sales presentation, to advertise here.

Long time lurker (and future pilot!) but I'm a digital marketing consultant.

Ads like the one above are in a display network. I believe this is Google's display ads network. Cost is likely $3.50 - $4.00 CPM (or cost per 1000 views). Advertisers can determine what type of websites they want their ads displayed on, in this case "aviation themed", or based on a number of other specifics.

I think we are giving people at Cessna too much credit as I've seen this exact ad on a number of other sites.

Put a chute on the TTx and it would sell as many as Cirrus
