Years ago I had a 1980 Fixed-gear Saratoga Turbo.

It would haul a good load, flew nice and was easy to get in and out of.

The downside was that mine was kind of slow - but that's probably because of the gear not folding.

When you think about it, mine was actually a Cherokee Six with a turbo (masquerading as a Saratoga). :D

Nope, still the jukey fixed wastegate and constant flow system.

Both of the IIIs I fly have over 1450 pounds useful. 123 gallons of fuel.

But yes, there is more fuel burn for sure. But as far as added utility you get known ice on most all planes.
