Old ones still work fine.

Nice work! Did you do the RAT removal as well?

I did that the first week I had the airplane. Daunting! Got to know the hyd system pretty well, as I also removed the associated hydraulic actuator. Code1 machines the hyd fittings so I could cap the manifold and plug one of the lines.

The plane is crazy easy to work on. The Czechs are thoughtful designers.

I think all of it was right at 50lbs.

Interior lighting update:

I found these LEDs on amazon, they are the right brightness, and the BA7S base fits into the Russian sockets. they are Dimmable- with the old analog transistor-dimmer in the plane. pretty cool-- they dim down to 3-4V, and they don't flicker.

I found the paint to make the lenses red (Hobby Lobby), it's water-soluble when liquid. (before is on the left, after on the right), so I also replaced the original red bulbs with these LEDs.

I'm attaching a pic of the white.
they are very white, probably 5500K, but it works in the cockpit, especially when dim.

If you’re tossing any old parts I’m happy to make a home for them in my spares. I’m trying to leave my jets mostly unmodified.

Reviving the thread. Check this out:

The duckbill Jet-A fuel nozzle does not fit into the L39 tip tanks. So I printed these adapters out of TPU (slightly flexible, and tolerates hydrocarbons). the red ones are prototypes, the black one is the final print (smoother edges).

works at full-flow (instead of the crappy silicone one the airport has that only has a 1" hole).

If you have small Jet-A caps, PM me and I'll send you the stl/gcode file.

Keep that away from piston aircraft, please.

A 421C crashed at KAAO after being fueled with Jet-A because the line person used an adapter not unlike what you made that was used to fuel Jetprops (turboprop conversions of piston PA46).

I am amazed 3D printing makes a sealed adapter. Usually, there are tiny holes in anything 3D printed by FDM.

Four of The Patriots pilots were invited to Wings Over Wanaka (New Zealand) to fly, and were even loaned jets to do it! Pretty cool!

I don't fly with them anymore but thought this was a good pic.

@Huggy -

Are the jets regularly used in the demos modified in significant ways?
E.G. - we know that the F16/18 jets are modified for the demo squadrons.
You mention the airshow 'loaning' jets to the team for the demo. Just wondered if there was anything required for those guys to fly 'loaned' jets.

I don't know about the Thunderbirds (I'm making an educated guess), but the Hornets are modified.
