What is the best aircraft for maximum unobstructed views? Obviously something strut less. I've seen Cardinals getting used quite a bit, some A36's (Jessica Ambats seem to use that a lot with the rear doors removed). What else?

What are you trying to do, exactly?

Breezy is pretty "unobstructed".

In a C177/C210 the photographer sits on his knees, in the right front seat, facing to the rear.

In a 36 Bonanza the photographer can sit in a seat or on the floor. He can use his knees to help stabilize the camera. His field of view is much greater than with a high wing plane.

The better known air-to-air photographers usually have their camera(s) mounted on a gyro stabilizer. This allows them to use slow shutter speeds to get the popular propeller blur.

I don't know of other planes that are useful for air-air photos.

A36 rear doors off, harness for the photographer. Plane flies exactly the same just very noisy. Photos through windows distort.

Cessna Caravan 208/208B plenty of hold down for stabilized Equipment, and plenty of useful load to spare.

I've done quite a bit in my A36. Door off, harnesses on, dead easy!

I work with dedicated stabilized camera systems all the time, but that's way to expensive for this purpose, which is to get some aerial footage of my bird. For external mount systems like Spacecam on helicopters it's a $10-15000/day deal, easily.

The good thing about an A36 is that it can keep up better, but it seems I'll be limited to shooting it behind me. With a Cardinal or 210 it seems I have the option, but it's slower. Does anyone know if a 337 can legally remove a door? It does have the strut, but at least one could shoot three quarter frontal or three quarter back.

I have a gyro stabilizer that's perfect for shooting video from an A36, if anyone wants to rent it.

It's one of Arnie's. ;)

Is it one of those Kenyon spinning gyros?

Yes.

We're not using it, so I'd be willing to sell it if someone needed it. Pretty slick. We've used it from a boat, where it was stellar!

I have flown a photographer in my 182. He had gyro stabilized equipment, but we always opened the passenger window and removed the front seat.

A much better platform is the 177 with retractable gear and no strut to work around. There are also a number of photo windows available for that airframe which makes it easier to operate out of. We rented a 177 one time with photo windows in the passenger side and rear seat aera. It was the best platform in my opinion.

Hi Tom. Interesting. I'd be interested in a KS-4x4 or KS-6x6 if you'd want to sell it or that's what you have. You can PM me.

And thanks for input on camera ship.
